Cougars generally only go after people if they are less than 105 lbs, but there are exceptions. They can, however, take out a Golden Retriever with very little effort. Around here, they follow the American River down into town sometimes. This happens more in the winter when deer migrate to lower altitudes. The cougars then find domesticated food all over the place and often stick around for the tasty feasts. The pickings are so easy for them, they'll eat only the liver and heart and leave the rest to rot. Spoiled mountain lions!!!
