Big trucks in the twisties

I too have nothing against the trucking industry and I realize the importance the trucking industry plays in keeping our economy hummimg. I also have great respect for the people that drive the big rigs as I know it is not an easy life. But saying large rigs have to be on those roads is not always correct. There are many local trucking companies using smaller box trucks that would be happy to carry supplies into the communities that need them. Can they do it as cheap as the big rigs, perhaps not, but safety should come before profits. The trucking industry as a whole is driven by who can haul it the cheapest and the quickest and that is the root of the problem. (Competition has its bad points) That being said, means that the trucking industry itself will never correct the problem and their lobbyist and campaign contributions will delay politicians from taking the required actions. I'm sure most truckers would love to stay off these types of roads as long as there fellow truckers had to also. Until the politicians can see past the campaign contributions life will go on the same, well at least for the fortunate ones among us that don't meet a semi in a blind curve.

Everybody that participated is owed a cold beer by me. I'll be waiting for you, cooler in hand, at the NC end of "the dragon". Only stip is, you have to drive a big rig thru "the dragon" to get your free beer.

Looong before someone mentioned pulling the drivers out of the cab and beating their heads in with a crowbar.....yes, it was posted, go find it for yourself......it was discussed that their ARE ignorant and stupid drivers who actually do not know how tight a road may be (Uhm, would RVs also qualify?).

Since they are not marked on maps and if the local Highway Patrol/DOT does not mark a roadway, then just how should someone know? For instance, how well do you know the local roads in Northern California, Colorado or Idaho? What are the "bridge" laws for Oregon or Washington?

IF one is looking or solutions rather than someone to blame (besides truck drivers, the trucking companies, the NRA or either major political party) why not begin a letter writing campaign to the local newspapers and the local and state agencies using the pictures posted here and accident reports (which are public record) to prove the case. Do something to initiate change rather than threatening others with bodily harm!
