First off, hello, first post here. Picked up my new (to me) 2015 in March. I have driven my truck to work exactly once since then. Love this bike for commuting and for trips up in the mountains. Planning on a PCH run start-to-end in November.

Now to the meat. I've had the same cover through two bikes and if finally started falling apart. I wanted something mainly for dust and light dew. It needed to be light and packable just like the one I had (that had no tags). I finally settled on this one:

Dowco Guardian 26036-00 UltraLite Plus Water Resistant Indoor/Outdoor Motorcycle Cover: Grey, Large

It fits the bill exactly. I thought I'd share the specifics here because it's so hard to find them in one place. The easiest way is with pics. The first two just show it stashed in the compression sack (included) without compressing it. Because my side cases are generally empty going to work, I usually don't bother with the bag and just roll it off the bike and throw it in the case. The only thing the pics don't show well is that it has a built-in strap that runs from one side to the other. Note the ruler next to the pack for measurements. For weight I used a kitchen scale: 1.860lbs, 844grams, 29.75 ounces.

Cheers,

I like my Nelson Rigg half cover (8" or so and just under 500 g for the XL).
Doesn't cover the whole bike but keeps rain, dew, birdshit and prying eyes off it.
I use it for travelling.

Been using Tour King for 3 bikes and more than 20 years. I can replace this 3 or 4 times for the cost of one of the high-zoot ones AND it packs into the size of a soda can for road trips. You can get them for with/without trunks, etc.

You will have to start getting them elsewhere.

From their site:
"After 25 years, Tour King products will no longer be produced. We still have products in inventory and will continue to sell these items until they are sold out. We will try to keep the website updated for current availability."

So you can still buy them. Cool. Good for another 12 years.

Ror dust cover in the garage I use a retired king size fitted bottom sheet for the
front section of eh bike and a king size top sheet for the windscreen t the back. That gives complete coverage of he bike. On road trips I bought one of he cheap water resistant coves that was shipped from Hong Kong. Believe I paid less than $20 for it. Works well and keeps the bike dry unless there is heavy rain.

It's interesting how many options there are out there. And for every feature, there are 10 options. A month in, where I literally had 3 days off from work, and I'm happy with my choice. Holding up well (of course, it has only been a month...), rolls up easily and fits in my pannier well. art miller, I like the idea of the sheets for the garage. I don't cover the FJR in the garage because I ride most days, but my daughter's Harley is covered. A more compact, dust-only, cover would work well.

Here's my latest update. I picked this up late September of 2022. The cover has been doing well but is showing some wear. I commute around 12 days a month and cover the bike every day I commute. Similar to tent material, water (dew, sprinklers, rain) does transfer through the cover where it contacts top box and windshield. The two things that are starting to fail are the inside liner that sits on the windshield and the right mirror vented cover edge just tore due to being a bit brittle. I am including a couple of pictures. I figure for how long I've had it and how it works, I'll definitely order another one.

If you like supporting Made in the USA products, I recommend:

https://eztouring.com/motorcycle-covers/
They are about double the cost of the Dowco covers, but I've had mine for years and it has yet to rip or fail me. I use the "Traveler" for weekend overnighters and the "Wanderer" when I tour and sometimes stay in motels and want to keep prying eyes off my trusty steed.

I use the size X, BTW.

Always good to buy American made and keep our neighbors working! Thanks for posting, I'll definitely buy here when I need one!
