Bike doesn't start after ECU replacement

My dealer told me that my bike was failing to start after installing the replacement ECU. Don't know the details by they were calling in the Yamaha Rep for a solution.

Has anyone ever heard of this happening? Could it be a bad ECU? Or maybe a bad Dealer? :dntknw:

Most likely a "high resistance open"

Either that or they didn't check the kill switch.

If'n I was at the dealership, I'd put the original ECU back and see if it starts. Doh!

They probably forgot to plug the new ECU in :rolleyes:

Wouldn't be the first time DAMHIK :blink:

 
Ask them to have the tech verify that each of the wires plugging in to the ECU harness are properly seated in the harness. If the tech pulled on the wires when unplugging the original ECU, one could be loose when he plugged the harness into the new ECU.

I experienced this when I did the Barbarian Jumper modification.

 
FJRguy/fellow Canuck....did your dealer "re-register" your key? I am assuming, they did not !! Remember, we have an immobilizer system that the Yanks do not have Your new ECU will not recognize your old key...you will have to take the "master" (red) key to the dealer for the procedure as outlined in the factory service manual. It takes all of 3 minutes...good luck with it FJRguy. :assassin:

If the bike works fine on the old ECU and won't start on the new one... Well, gee. What could the problem possibly be?
hmmm... maybe something not quite so obvious as a bad ECU. :p

It is a bad ECU. The ECU is badly programmed! I bet the next one they got would do the same thing!

To be honest I completely forgot you guys have the fancy schmancy immobilizers.
