One of the retired guys that sit in the corner at the local Tim Horton's loaned me some photos when he used to pit crew for #99 "Scorcie" Palser.
This is where the term "Shade Tree Mechanic" came from....
Scorcie and the must have flat tracker in 1956, the Manx Norton....
The race that day was at the Oshawa Fairgrounds (now long gone) just north of the hospital. It's all strip malls and houses now.....
The halftime entertainment was before the days of freestyle MX and double backflips. Back then one of the riders would ride his bike through a ring of fire to wow the crowd....
It was either that or it is a photo of a BMW final drive exploding.
Next time you are in Bowmanville stop in at Timmy's and buy Albert a coffee for saving these photos for the last 59 years.
