Now you might have to repaint a 2016 -- just looking on the bright side.
I'm thinking a '16 would look FANTASTIC in yellow/black. lol

Actually I already have the bags and gas tank in yellow/black.

But I bet there'll be a few killjoys coming along soon to tell me a Gen 1 tank won't fit on a Gen III IV bike.

May be too late, and probably too far, but I could make some garage space in south Denver for you.

Old Yeller is down for the count.

Heading back to Denver for the end of ButtLite 8 when I hit a muffler....

I'll post a pic of it when I return home.

I'm a bit exhausted....
I see what you did there.....

All seriousness, sorry that this happened, but glad that you kept it shiny side up. Good luck with repairs/upgrades.

I've observed what you can do with a bit of duct tape and JB weld before, good luck with this one.

Sorry about the mishap, glad you survived.

My headers are trashed but I've got a good motor to keep in mind.

Wish you were closer.

First, it's a good thing you're OK. Second, so sorry the yellow lightning bolt is trashed. Third, even more sorry that it ended your Butt Lite campaign. Will there be a next time?

Wow, glad to hear you came out of that one unscathed Mike.

I was wondering about your DNF on the second leg and now I know.

That new 16' will look nice in the shop, be it yellow or not.

Safe travels picking her up this week.

Thank you all for the well wishes. Wife and I got back home late yesterday afternoon with the bike on a trailer. Off loaded it in the shed and walked away from her.

Uncle Hud asked if there'll be a next time. At this point I'm not sure. Prior to the mishap as I was riding I-80 back to Denver, I was thinking about how I wanted to just get back to Denver safely so I could tell my wife I was done with all this riding through the night crap. No more long rallies, no more riding on the clock. You would think that at that point, hitting something on the road hard enough that it puts my bike out of commission would only solidify my resolve to stop this kind of riding, but.... then my wife asks about the IBR. She knows I have wanted to do it for quite some time now, and even after this, she still supports me if I go ahead with it. So as I said, I just don't know. I have seen tons of great parts of this country because of them and met some fantastic people along the way. And oddly enough, I still love riding at night.

I guess it'll depend on getting Old Yeller back together again. It shouldn't be nearly as difficult as putting Humpty Dumpty back together again. And yes kieefjr, I have thought about your engine as you part out your bike. Hopefully it won't come to that, but I would consider it.

Thanks again friends for your concern. Worse could have happened, but it didn't. My guardian angel was on top of his/her game that morning.
