The games will be short lived if Beemerdons is playing cause he has the fat wallet. I would fix the two R90s's for him if he gave me the R100.

Let everyone be aware that I will KILL for a R90S and I will use a Schmeisser Machine Pistol just like Hans und Dieter would, push that piece of Kawi-Krap in the snow Ray and get started on my R90S restoration damnit! That is Herr Dieter holding the Schmeisser und Herr Hans is looking through the field glasses to see if he hit the Polish partisans!

I can multitask. It's actualy good to have a couple resto's going at the same time so you can be moving on one while another is waiting for parts or in the case of the KZ powdercoat.

There is nothing stopping you except fear. The sooner you get them here the sooner things happen.

It's more fun to work on a couple projects for friends than fix sno blowers for idiots.

Now that's a quotable quote!

Oh, BeemerD? I think it's a GREAT idea to have Ray learn on those POS R90's before tearing into the far superior /2 bikes..

:****: them /5's, /2's RULE!

That's a period accurate Dunstall fairing on the right bike.

Many thanks for all of this good info, Brian. Riding down Monday to Tucson, looking at those BMW R90S's!

So damn hard that the cat can't scratch it and fully blue veined too!

BeemerD has a purple-headed Beemer-Woodie!

Things to look for on the R90S you're looking at:
Mechanical:
*Turn rear wheel, check smoothness of driveline from transmission to wheel bearings.
*Make sure the engine's not stuck!
*Steering head bearings notchy? How many miles on bike?
*Throttle slides stuck?
*Check the oil. If it's really black, you'll have problems. The acids in old, dirty oil can corrode main and rod bearings after 20 years. I had a bike throw a rod on my lift because of this!
*Slightly bent forks can indicate a one-time accident, and also check the welded-on plates at the steering head for straightness-the bikes 40 years old.

Things the R90S has, but the R90/6 doesn't have:
*Finned, black handlebar clamps.
*Dell'Orto carbs.
*Black mirrors.
*No accordion fork boots.
*White numbers on clock and voltmeter.
*Non-drilled rotors and alloy turn signals on '74.
*"Plain" seat cover on R90S, not later model with ribs across seat.
Send me some pictures!

Many Thanks Dave, you're "King of the Airheads"! The VIN on the 1974, both frame and engine, is 4950651; 4980131 on the 1975, both of these numbers match the BMW VIN sheet that you gave me.

106.2K miles on 1974 and 43.8K miles on 1975. Probably requiring top end jobs.
