Just got "the call" from the dealer saying my crate arrived with my FJR inside. Kewl, eh.

I asked when it would be prepped, yada, yada.... he said probably this afternoon or tomorrow morning. Great...!

But, there's a problem here. It's Good Friday and the insurance company's office is closed. So is the DMV.... and doubt if either will be open Saturday.... Sunday is EASTER.... no one's open then and many places (like DMV) will be closed on Monday cuz the REAL holiday was on Sunday and we don't wanna screw any state worker out of another one of their 28 paid holidays do we.

#$%&@!!

So, now what do I do? My bikes ready to ride.... but, I don't have a plate, reg or any insurance. That's just wonderful....!!

And, ya know what? (Whining again...) This is Yamaha's fault, folks. If momma Yamamama would have given the dealership a 'heads up' that these bikes were coming (like give them the VINs of the bikes that would be arriving the week of such and such), I could've been notified of the VIN and told my insurance company before hand so I could have a binder in hand NOW. And maybe the bike coulda been registered as well. Crap! But, still the registration and plate probably can't be done until Tuesday. Crap!

Now, what do I do?? Just WHINE I guess.

BAGGER sad in CT-land

Care for a little cheese to go with that whine? :D

Just Kidding.

I don't blame you. It's all so frustrating. I just called my stealer and they haven't got a clue for mine yet. They do have the trunk though.

I'm the first person to receive one on their list, but then again I'm also the last. :(

You've got that well covered.

Pardon me, but am I in the only state that says if I have a relationship with an insurance company--I have 15 days to add a new vehicle and they cover during that period even if I don't tell them? Even so, I called them up, told them I was picking up my '05 FJR on a Friday, they confirmed I was absolutely covered because they're into customer service, and just asked to call in when I did actually know the specific VIN.

As for licensing, is it again only my state that includes a temporary license plate from the dealer that's good for three or more days? I think it would cover me until Tuesday given the weirdness of holidays, with all but the most sadistic trooper in the unlikely event it was expired on Monday.

Me thinks you're making a mountain out of a molehill friend.

I'm prescribing that you go out and put 600 miles on it over the weekend, come back home, change the oil, and you'll be ready next week for a serious ride.

As far as I'm concerned you are. In CT you are not going anywhere with out registration and that requires an insurance card.

I kept wondering why we were seeing pics of new bikes that were riden home and don't have any tags on them.

Must be nice.

It's all Conneticut's fault, you can't expect Yamaha to account for every lamo law in every State! ;)

My insurance company lets me call and leave a message if I'm buying during non office hours. They'll cover it!

If I got pulled over, I'd have 30 days to proove that I had coverage even though I didn't have proof.

California allows temporary registration, of which mine went in my fairing glove box for 6 months before I finally got my plates (a different story).

I got pulled over in Colorado for failure to show a plate, when he saw my temp he was surprised that in California we could just ride around with no plate. He gave me his business card with a code on it in case I got pulled again and let me ride on with no problems.

I have to get to work!

Come on....live a little....just ride the damn thing!!!!! OH, go stars!

I'd be riding here in OK as well. Insurance is on any vehicle I buy when I buy it. Just "let us know within a few working days".

Hey, fjrchik....we live in dallas....get on the bandwagon. The stars will probably play the avs in the playoffs. Besides, minnesota's out of it. They did, however, beat the avs 5 to 2 on the ninth. Gotta love it. Love it when the wild beat the avs. Just a little spittle in the face of colorado.....tee hee. ;)

Illinois, Dealer puts on a paper tag Its good till the real plate comes in. I just call my Insuance agent and I'm good to go. We take care of the details later.

Now if only my dealer would call and tell me I have a ride, I could do all the above.

:erm:

Yep, in good ole Calif - not a problem. The dealership registers the bike on an 'rs' (temporary registration until your plates arrive by mail) and as far as insurance- your automaticallycovered by your primary insurance for a time (not sure - 7 days?). So, I guess this means there is an advantage to living in Ca. other than the weather?

Since I will be taking a week or so to ride home from the dealer, I wonder if I should take the plates from my wife's Yamaha Majesty scooter and put them on the FJR during the ride home. If I got stopped by a cop for speeding (a distinct possibility) the cop probably wouldn't know one Yamaha model from another. Of course I would have to carry the registration and my insurance card for the scooter. Hmmmm. Will have to give that some thought. On second thought maybe I will just play it straight. :D :D :D :D

Connecticut has more 'blue laws' than any state I know of...

Can't buy booze past 8 pm or on Sundays and Holidays.

Can't drive over side walks.

Can't back outta your driveway

Can't sell cars on Sundays (that one may have changed since I left CT)

ETC,

There's tons of those kinda laws, many of which are not enforced, but remain there for novelty sake - I think...

Plus, CT doesn't do temp plates for new cars and bikes. You're plated when you leave the lot - at least that's the way it was when I was living there. So if you ride without a tag, expect to be pulled over.

I have at least 15 days in Indiana. It may well be 30 to add a bike onto an existing policy.

My solution to that NO INSURANCE problem is to get a PROGRESSIVE policy ONLINE. Just need the vin and a credit card.

You get a temporary plate with the bike, don't you??????

Quit whining and....

GET OUT THERE AND RIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Sheesh, this ain't rocket science....)

Thanx for the support and the negative tho'ts as well. Everything's welcome.

Here's the deal.... Went to the dealership after picking up a flat tire from a cage. I opened the FJRs crate and took a few photogs of the dash inside the box. And, of course the box itself. Don't know why... just did.

Told the dealer the deal with the insurance company being closed all weekend and they tried to call Dairyland in WI to do it over the phone. They wouldn't do it. So, I got the VIN and faxed the BIG insurance company the information and they should send back a card to me and one to the dealer. Once that occurs and the bike is prepped, I can ride off. I paid for the bike, did all the paper work as the place was just hectic and not bull **** as usual. Oh, BTW, got the extended warranty for $389, too. B)

If I get the insurance card, I can pick up the FJR tomorrow. Dealer said it he'd have it ready today, but it's gonna rain anyway. Tomorrow is fine. Waited 6 months already, eh.

VIN is 000536

Latah............. BAGGER

Hey, fjrchik....we live in dallas....get on the bandwagon.
nope. can't do it. even though they were ours. i'm loyal to the wild, especially when they play dallas. loyalty is important to me.

now back to the topic at hand.

:eek:fftopic:

Congrats Bagger!

You hit the nail right on the head.

I hadn't heard about selling cars on Sunday but that wouldn't suprise me a bit.

Most often these aren't enforced, unless a cop is ticked off over something, then HERE come the Blue Laws! And your gonna get it for something.

Communist freaking state! Highest taxes, cost of living, and gas prices, except maybe for Califonia.

Could be worse though, could be living in the middle east.

At least we do have FJR's, well, on order anyways. :)

Hmm..I was usual able to get someone from my insurance company 24/7, and they just emailed me the new insurance information. I just printed, stuck in my wallet and road 400 miles. Plates are temp for 7 days in california until the real ones come in, so get on the phone you lazy guy, and stop looking for excuses before I take your toy away from you!
