How about this one for you New York Staters....bike came in on Tuesday but the dealership didn't get the title from Yamaha until today so it couldn't be registered anyway. Meanwhile, the bike could have been assembled and waiting but of course its not. My feeling is that I've already waited this long, I suppose I can wait until Monday.....And hows this for insurance, liability only $158.00 per year, same as my 2000 VFR.

No paper plates? My, what a system? I've had State Farm insurance on all my new vehicles in In, Texas, Cal, WI and Ohio: always have 30 days to get it paid for but am instantly covered upon taking delivery of the bike or car.

Paper plate is on my FJR and will need to get the new plate within the next 2 weeks as I've had her 2 weeks tomorrow. Gee maybe hoosierland isn't all that bad despite excise tax, "wheel" tax etcetcetc........

Hopefully it will be as nice as forcasted so tomorrow it will be RIDE time!!!! Enjoy that FJR...when you do get her home....DFO :D

  You put "only liability" on your new bike?

I cant imagine that... My insurance is 300/year full coverage. 50/100/50. $500 ded

State Farm RULES

OK.... updated stuff. The bike is paid for and the dealer has plates and a registration for me. Didn't know he had that.... I live in a cave without fire.

Then called Dairyland (Sentry) insurance again. I spent some time thumbing between "press 2"..... "press 4".... yada, yada, until I found a person to speak with. I told the story and she was quite responsive. But, could not fax the card to me as those folks were gone for the weekend.

Then, remembering what some folks here on the board stated, I asked if I were covered for 30 days without a card. "Yes, sir, you are.... ". Damn kewl beans, eh.

So, if the dealer can complete the setup of my FJR..... I'm good to go manana.

Thanx for all the help .... ahhh.... that some of you gave me. I appreciate it and if all works out, I'll be riding number 536 in the mid 70s here in CT-land soon.

I'm stoked. BTW, I got a red FJR.

BAGGER

State Farm recently changed to 10 day coverage before notice of purchase on cages and 0 (Zero) days on motorcycles.

But my agent says just let him know when I am leaving to pick it up and it will be covered. And to call with the VIN before I ride away. My agent has his home # as well as business # on all of his biz cards. Just call, leave message if necessary.

Now you could fax the VIN# also if you want to be sure.

Pardon me, but am I in the only state that says if I have a relationship with an insurance company--I have 15 days to add a new vehicle and they cover during that period even if I don't tell them?
Nope. I've got 30 days.

As for licensing, is it again only my state that includes a temporary license plate from the dealer that's good for three or more days?
Nope. I got permanent hard tags.

My FJR has found it's way home... to my garage. There were some SNAFU's along the way, but eventually it was "mine". B)

First, the wheel spacer was missing. But, the 2nd bike... whose eventual owner is on vacation.... had one. His is now on my bike. Otherwise, when do you think we'd get one from Yamaha?

Then, because of the missing spacer, the set up dude stopped everything.

This AM when the 2nd spacer was located, the set up re-started. However, the 'bit' used to do something with the bag install was missing. And the spare was in a locked truck box elsewhere. They had to get a new one??? WTF?

Bike was promised at 10 AM.... but, other problems occurred. I was at the dealership at 2ish and road off at 2:30ish. But, there was one more problem. I did not have an insurance card... altho I am covered for 30 days.... Dealer needed a card to register the bike?? I had a Goldwing card with me and we blacked out the VIN and added the Feejer's VIN. Kewl beans! I love being proactive.

All in all.... I road 150ish miles. I'll post my tho'ts and evaluation (in case someone's interested) later in a new post.

I'm psyched!! BAGGER
