I'm lovin' the clean look of the dash area...from the new guages all the way to the new look of the bars and triple tree top area. I also really like the body color door on the glove box. Nice job, Yamaha.

Nice pics...thanks.

I just got back from Biketoberfest and not to piss anyone off but I'm less impressed then I thought I'd be with the new Feejers. The non electric looks more bulky and way less sporty then the 2005. The auto shift one has a very cheap mechanism for the hand shifting, it is plastic and flimsy. I will say that I liked the polished wheels on the no clutch model.

Just looking at the pictures the FJR is looking a bit on the piggy side. Guess I'll have to wait to see it in person.

I kinda like the Busa LE though.

I was in Orlando for a training conference and had the opportunity to shoot up the interstate to Daytona. I have to agree with ya Spine, I too was less than impressed, and especially w/ the price increase. I bought my 04 new in Nov. 03 for $11037 out the door w/ abs.

After seeing it in person, here is my .02. I like the look of the triple tree and dash. I also like the mileage and temperature additions to the guages. If the new air flow improvements make a difference, then that is a welcome change. The dual cooling fans are also welcome, though I have never heard of anyone with overheating troubles. oh .... the polished wheels are very sweet, as is the new windshield look. Other than that, I still like my '05 better. Here are my dislikes ...... The rear rack, although sleeker in it's new low profile position, doesn't allow any room underneath for wrapping a strap around or holding on to. The side plastic fairing openings ... they just seemed flimsy to me., in fact, one of them was already broken on the demo model. I think the mirrors look a bit odd. I like the painted exterior, but the mirror sticks out the front. If it was recessed back in to the housing it would look better IMHO. Having never operated the no clutch design, I'll reserve judgement, but the cheap plastic mechanism sticking out the left side looks like breakage waiting to occur. With the price increase, the weight increase, and the continuation of blue or silver colors, I'll wait another year and see what '07 brings.

Now these are just my opinions, and my lack of wanting to buy one certainly does not exclude me from wanting to ooogle yours at the next EOM or gathering. :p

Since I was with some cruiser fella's, we also had to look at the new Star line. I felt as though they suffered the same fate. Although the new cosemetics looked good, it was all plastic trim and very flimsy plastic. Nothing felt firm or tight or like it was going to last. Time will tell, I am not a designer or engineer, so I could be wrong.

Thanx for the pics, drool....... Why isn't it March yet??? Supposedly, per local Yamahaha rep my bike, ordered on day 1, should be here in March...with my luck in the middle of a snowstorm! Oh well, at least I'll finally be able to ogle her and critique the design in 3D, btw...I am an Industrial Designer. The observations of those who have actually seen the bike are very interesting to me; but one must remember this is a mass production motorcycle built to a price point so ol Yaameehaha can (and does) make money selling each one. As I face that everyday I sure can understand what their designers and engineers go through to bring a viable, attractive and high performance product to market.

AFAIK IF they really did get the excessive heat situation under control I for one will be impressed....and a happy (this time) FJR owner! DFO :D

Nice pics! Is that an access panel for the fuse block in picture #12 showing the body color glove box? If it is, I say that it's a welcome improvement.

I'm not really sure what is under there. It seems obvious that it is there for a reason. But just looking at it, I'm not really sure. It appears to be pretty flush with the rest of that panel and I would think that if the fuse panel were below it, they would have had to insulate it somehow to prevent water from getting around the plastic edges.

That's a blank-off panel for the spot where the four-way flasher switch used to be. Looks like they used the same part number #1 panel.

Agree with Spine60 & XLR8. IMHO the new ‘06 really seems to look less sporty. The windscreen looks terrible along with the car/moped type mirrors & I miss the “shark gills” from the ‘01-’05. Sadly, Yamaha is slowly turning this thing into a ST1300 and is looking more appliance-like. Still a great bike, but I am not impressed with the direction Yamaha is heading with this platform. Personally, I think we all would be much happier with a little less weight, more power and H.O. alt for the gizmo freaks.

At west coast release a few weks back the rep said that it is a prepoduction panel, and the " knock out " plug will not be there in the production bikes.
