i had 5 quarts of oil in my crankcase. i never over fill.blackstone labs did a

oil analysis and report came back of fuel dilution about 3 %. i think <2%

is normal. i realize that there might be something wrong with bike but there is

this asshole on my job that might have put something in oil filler.do they make oil

filler locks?

facts: 13000 miles on bike. 2000 miles from last oil change. 20 -40 yamalube oil.

ride 6 miles to from work everyday , not much else .

thanks in advance

Are you saying the ride to work is 3 miles or 6 miles each way? In either event, if you're not getting the bike out and HOT, that's likely your dilution problem. Automakers refer to these as *housewife* runs which are really hard on oil and lead to sludge build-up. Google Toyota engine sludge...

As mentioned above, 6 miles isn't enough to get the oil good and hot. Take it out for a good hard run (100+ miles) on a hot day and then get the oil analyzed again. Note 3% dilution is only an additional four ounces so doesn't account for almost an additional quart of oil.

I used Blackstone Labs for oil analysis up to about 12k miles and they always said the fuel dilution was ~3%. Made no difference if I rode 4 miles or 100 miles right before changing/sampling, the dilution rate was always the same. I quit worrying about it in Oct '08.

Here's my report at 111,500 miles.

These two are not "locking" but require a tool to remove

He could just drill a small hole in the "wing" of his OEM cap and use a bit of break away wire (small gauge copper wire) as an indication of tampering.

Nice bump of a 2012 thread Phil!

Does Blackstone test for Zombies?
