Bleeding linked brakes?

When bleeding linked brakes I imagine you open the bleeder on any given caliper and fluid is pulled/pumped from both the front and rear master cylinders? Is this correct? Any tips specific to linked brake maintainance?

Or do the calipers have more than one bleeder with the front brake pistons isolated from the rear?
