Yes -- there's nice restaurants there, and good twisty mountain road up 321.

I don't live near there, and it's been awhile since I've been through BR, so YMMV.

Hmmm, I'm tentatively planning to take a leisurely ride around once I get into town on Thursday. I say tentatively because I might not feel like taking a leisurely ride once in Boone... especially if beer is near. This might be a good early dinner area. Is anyone else interested?

Blowing Rock needs to be on everyone's visit list. Super places to eat and many neat shops. One of the best roads you'll ever ride is #221 from Blowing Rock over to Grandfather mountain.....around 20 miles of pure bliss....it doen't get any better.

Sounds like a good idea. Deena and I expect to get there early Thursday afternoon. We'll look for you once we settle in.

not sure what time -- but hoping to be in Boone around 4pm. is that too late for beer?

Sounds like it might be a plan. I (hopefully) should be rolling into Boone on Thursday afternoon sometime and have been wanting to check out Blowing Rock. I've had a bunch of realtors trying to sell me property there and I don't even know what the area looks like.

The Boone-Blowing Rock area is a "retirement/2nd home destination." Banner Elk even has a private airport, for property owners, IIRC. Expect property values to be high.

It is a beautiful part of the country w/ several ski areas in the vicinity.

We tell our friends and relatives in Texas that the nicest thing abt living in East Tennessee is North Carolina! :D :p :yahoo:

I could go for my 1-millionth ride on Tweetsie Railroad!

Count me in!!!

(Unless Heidi and crew find beer first!)

Seriously, 221 is an awesome ride! The Moses H Cone memorial park is a big attraction. My GW-riding brother and our families stopped there for picnic lunch a couple months ago. You can't go wrong around that area.

We tell everyone that the best thing about Western NC is Dollywood and the Twins.

Their logo seemed a little "off tempo" with their name. The potential for charges of "false advertising" has been corrected.
