If you can get to Pensacola either Friday or Saturday (13 & 14 Nov) and if you have even the remotest interest in enjoying a display of high-performance machinery, you need to get your *** to Pensacola Naval Air Station for the final Blue Angels show of the year. Expected demonstrations include the F/A-18F Super Hornet, the F-16 Falcon, and various private airshow acts such as Patty Wagstaff, as well as numerous static displays of current and historic aircraft.

The show is Friday and Saturday, beginning at 10 AM Central, with a twilight-into-night show Friday at 4:45. Afterburners, fireworks, ground pyrotechnics, all a bit more thrilling when it's getting dark. Of particular notability is that the Friday night and Saturday afternoon shows will be the last ever in history JATO demonstations by the C-130, Fat Albert. The rockets aren't made any more, and they seem to be running out of them.

Weather looks to be great, temps in the 70's, sunny! Don't know for sure yet if I'm riding over or caging it.

Some shots from last year's evening show:

Man! I would love to see them again. They were still in A4's I think the last time I saw them. I think it was '82 or '83 in Hawaii. Still love to see ol Fat albert take off with the JATO's! The 18's must be fun to watch too!

no more JATO for Fat Albert...Sherman field is a great place to watch the Blues! awesome static displays, too!

The Angels, IMHO are by far the superior flight demonstration team. Was stationed in P'cola for 3 yrs, most awesome airshows ever. If you are there for a few days take the tour of the Air Museum. You will not be dissapointed.

+1 a hundred billion times.

I just had a trip last month to D.C. to see the offspring and his offspring before he shipped out (to Hawaii!!!) and visited the National Air and Space Museum. I was honestly disappointed.

It's a fabulous museum, and they have the best stuff, like John Glenn's Mercury, the actual Apollo 11 capsule, the Wright Flyer (the actual Kitty Hawk airplane,) the Spirit of St. Louis, Spaceship On, the X-1, and on and on. There are awesome displays on space missions like Surveyor, Voyager, Pioneer, and the Mars landers. But for sheer number of aircraft, and the quality of their restorations, the Museum of Naval Aviation cannot be beaten.
