They did when I was in. The home team went to the desert to fly in wide open spaces for training. You mean to tell me that one team does all that stuff now?

Yeah, the team trains in the winter at El Centro, California, then moves to the home base at Pensacola for the show season. There's no more activity from them at El Centro until the next year's winter training begins.

The team flies two practice days a week in Pensacola during the season, Tuesday and Wednesday, and there are bleachers from which member of the public can view those sessions.

It was waaay different in the late '70's. I'll send you some Blue Angels pictures up close and personal. Post them if you can. Huge files though!
