I'm in Asheville NC for a conference this week & couldn't cage it. Took in some fall foliage on the BRP and connecting roads today:

Very nice JM. Beautiful scenery and great looking riding roads. Reminds me of one Christimas I spent years ago in the hills of Nantahala. Not on the bike though. And one I'll never forget, long story.....PM. <><

Great shots of some great scenery J-M.....especially the "ravenesque" beauty in the foreground!

Is it just me or is the fall color change happening later and later each year? I certainly know about the drought conditions and all, but I remember from my backpacking days that even mid-October was almost too late for fall color in N.C.

When I see those pictures I forget the reason I moved from there...

Oh yea, wearing a sweatshirt 8 months a year did it. I do miss the rural riding though.

You B@stard with your work trips... <jealousy>

j/k...looked like a great time :yahoo: and beautiful scenery. :clapping:

Thanks for sharing...

You mean your lovely lady actually bought into the B. S. sale about this being a "work" trip. Ya oughta be in retail!

Very nice pics. Thanks.

The drought does impact colors (or lack thereof), but I still saw plenty or yellow & orange trees. Elevation also dictates the season...around 2000-3000 ft is peak in N.C. right now. Higher than that, and the leaves are gone.

Unfortunately, I left the camera at the hotel, and the phone/camera doesn't really capture the scenery vividly.

Yeah, it gets chilly. I rode in patches of snow around 5500 ft yesterday.

A few more pics for the heartbroken kiddies....These are from yesterday's ride home.

Wow, great shots Herr Meister! :clapping:

We did the BRP twice, both times in August. We sure missed out on the fall colors and icy bits.

Well, I see you are up to the task and shouldering the burden of riding in that area. It's awfully nice of you to volunteer to do so and then post pictures of your labors on our behalf.

Uhm....don't let your boss know how much fun you're having on this trip or he'll charge you to come to work. ;)

Great pics! Similar colors in Southeast Pennsylvania which suprised me, but at close to 5,000', it's no wonder the leaves are as far along in Asheville as they are. I feel REALLY bad for the time you spent on your business trip!

Very nice. It's really cool us West Coasters can ride vicariously through nice posts like yours. Thanks again!

Thanks Guys. Some weeks, work sucks. Last week, not so much :D

If it makes anyone feel better, the weather here is 75f and sunny for the week, but I'll be stuck in a suit (not the riding type).

The trip was great. Most here know that BRP is a more scenic than aggressive ride. In fact, it struck me as funny that tourist-cagers weren't really holding me up...it was just that beautiful.

Sections of the Parkway are closed in N.C. I had to backtrack a few miles & detour to Waynesville, which caused me to lose an hour. Thus, the Cherohala run I planned didn't materialize. Still, a great trip!
