BlueSea – Installation question(s)

It is possible ( as I have done so ) to have switched AND un-switched power from a single PDB.

Go to easternbeaver.com website and have a look at some of the kits they have available.

I think many will be enlightened.

For example: I mounted the 4 fuse block with relay ( & 48" leads ) in the space behind the glove box. ( Gen II )

My GPS is constant and my heated grips, cruise control and intercom are switched. This location also reduced the

amount of wires I had to run back and forth the length of the bike. Only the intercom required wires past the gas tank.

here's my solution to the distribution block, purchased at AutoZone for 11 bucks. 10 ga wire with a bosch relay up by the battery. I actually cut the factory battery terminal off the factory wires and soldered on larger gague ones that allow the 10 ga to be in the same terminal ring. keeps it nice and clean up fron, only one ring terminal on the battery.

I also tend to be overly anal when it comes to electricial work, I used to build Verizons mobile AC power systems in their trucks. I cut, solder and shrink tube everything, rather than the posi lock solution.

I wanted to make an additional post in this thread that isn't a response to any previous post

but more an observation regarding PDBs mounted under the seat. It was my intention in my

earlier post to indicate that a more compact PDB could be mounted in the nose of the bike to

free-up space under the seat for other items. For example, under my passenger seat I store a

siphon hose, bike-sized jumper cables, a bike-powered spot light and a first aid kit.

Under my seat I have an up-rated basic tool kit, bike-powered air compressor, tire plugging

kit, spray bottle of windshield cleaner and the intercom unit. Oh, and there's a clean rag in there

somewhere, too. So, as you can imagine, I don't have room for a PDB under the seat.

 
Can I piggyback my new under-seat or tail mounted fuse block off of Warchild's Barrier Strip?

Is it necessay to run a seperate duplicate relay setup off of the battery?

Could any of you electrical gurus please tell me if it is ok to run the rear fuseblock off of WC's barrier strip setup, or if I need another separate relay assembly?

 
I'm not a guru, but, I'll give my opinion. As long as you have suffient guage wire to the WC strip and then continue that same guage back to power the blueseas box, I think you would be OK. Make sure you have the power lead fused prior to going to the WC strip and the correct amp fuses on the farkles and you should be well protected.

 
Here is a link to my blue seas install under the rear seat: Blue Seas. As has been pointed out it is not necessary to do that. However, in driving rain the tailsection gets moist under the seat area. Around here that is enough of an issue that I feel more comfortable with mine mounted this way.
