I'm posting this from a hotel room at the Comfort Inn in Beaver, Utah.

The manager had me park Wonky on the sidewalk right next to the entrance so he could keep an eye on her. She's covered up, and waiting for me.

TurboDave and BlueStreak are fine - so don't worry. They're grinding it out as I type.

We were just north of Vegas when things fell apart -

Prior to doing this trip, I'd been having some minor problems with, shall we say, ahhhhh..... how do I say this.......

I guess there's no good way to say it - so, here goes -

The Tijuana Two Step -

Tourista

Like through a Goose -

Along with a low grade fever -

However- it responded to Imodium and Advil -

We gathered as planned in Yuma yesterday - Turbo and Blue arrived afternoon - guess they liked the 116 degree heat.

I arrived just before midnight. It was 91F at effing Midnight. Cool part of the day, eh?

Bob and Heidi Still stopped by at different times during the afternoon to sign our start forms. Good folks, both. Glad I finally got to meet them.

Crossed into Mexico at the Los Algadones crossing about 19:50 hours - - and highly recommended - they see the bike, wave you south, there's a liquor store not 1 block from the border. Buy a bottle of Aquafina, get the computerized receipt with all the necessary info - That's your start time !!!

Then ya cross back into the states.

The Border Guard checked us out one at a time - and he thought the ride we were doing was cool - said to be safe. I've found that if you just tell them the truth, they actually get a little envious - and wish you luck. And while not required, the passport makes it real easy. Just hand it over, they look at your face, scan it in, and hand it back.

I'd been feeling great all day - no fever - and realized just after midnight when we were heading N on the 15 that

"sumthin jest warn't rite down south"

Oh Crap. (I can't believe I said that.)

So - TurboDave and BlueStreak are on their way - they should hit Canada as planned - and have a good chance of doing the BBG as well.

They have instructions to contact me immediately when they pass through customs and have the finish receipt. I'll post it up when I get the call.

I'm scheduled to check out on Saturday - but may extend my stay another day, depending upon how things "fall out" . (ok - there's another loose pun) (and another. I gotta stop this.)

To those folks heading for Coutts, sorry to miss ya all - but you'll get to meet Turbo and Blue - a couple of great guys considering the shape they're in.

So - what's there to do in Beaver? Hmmm.........

(besides find more Immodium...)

Well, there's an Arby's, but that just MIGHT not help. Hmmm...let's see. Nope, that's it. Get well.

Wow, stuck in Beaver. Hmmm.

Nothin' but Beaver for Hal on this trip. Hehe.

OK, I'm done.

So what are you doing up so early, eh?

Or is it up late, like I am ?

And to further Beaver comments -

My wireless login ID and password are:

Comfort.

Beaver.

Honest.

Well crap, don't ya just hate when sh*t like that happens. I was on and in state saddlesore when my ignition switch crapped out.

Hey Hal,

So many words of wisdom to say to you; let me express just a few..

  • What, run out of ass wipes?
  • Be like lady astronauts, wear a DIAPER!
  • FJR reported to get 80 mpg with 'jet' assist! :D
  • Bill Mayer seats, the best remedy for moneky butt, red ass, and brown-butt-itis!
  • Clorox, it removes *all* stains..
  • and last, but not least, Put a CORK in it, will yah? :yahoo:
...and I can hardly wait for a Radman pix!
Sorry you're ride got shortened but hey, at least you have a great moment to share with the grand kids and you're safe and sound at the comforting beaver. ;)

Hal,

Gosh, sorry to hear of the news, ...but thanks for the update.

What miserable riding conditions, we talk of cold, rain, mud, wind, heat and all the things that make for a tough ride ....but what you went through my friend ..is the worst!!!

Take care of yourself, look forward to the updates on dave and steve ......

OH and a PM on it's way on what to do while in Beaver!

..john

Hal, sorry to hear of your trip looseing up like that. Don't listen to the rest of these guys, there just full of crap. Sorry to hear the run got shorted and hope everything flows well from here on out. Just drink clear liquids, keep the imodium handy and you'll be back on the seat in no time. Well that's it for now, be good and you'll clean up next time. Take care, keep the smooth side down and the shiney side up and everything will work out. I got to make a run to the dump so catch ya later, PM. <><

So it's gotten to the point that to get the squirts, you just have to cross the border, or contemplate doing same? Things have really gone south down south, in the south, all I have to say.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune Hal. I wouldn't wish what you got on my worst enemy, well......except for vectervp1. :p

Funny thing is, I was gassing up at the Chevron station in Beaver, UT about 32 hours ago. Not much going on in that town around midnight.

Good luck.

I think you should have kept riding. It's just like adding an Airhawk cushion to your saddle.

Seriously, I hope it's just a bad burrito and that you're up and feeling good soon. Good luck, and sorry about the B to B, but there will be other shots at LD rides.

Or at high-noon for that matter.

The following quote seems soooo ironic now. (Taken from THIS thread about Motorgod's 2 Day 2K)

snip...
Good luck and have a safe ride. Hoping that the Ritz/peanut butter snacks are not to binding.

Sorry to hear about your "Misfortunes". Rest up and get better.
I will be heading out in about 2 hrs to meet them.
They're in Canada! Bearly Flying just called and the fellas crossed the border approx. 5pm MST. - an hr. ahead of schedule. :clapping:

They expect to arrive in Lethbridge around 7:00.
