Every year Theta Tau, an engineering professional fraternity, sponsors a Rube Goldberg Contest at Purdue. The rules require that you perform a task, like in this case the task is to open the drapes, but you have to perform the task with a certain minimum number of mechanical steps. I didn't count them in this video, but the guys who made this work would seem to me to not have much of "a life." Tuning this thing would be a major time sink.
