Got a little carried away with the polisher:

It takes that brown right off:

All back together:

This is not for the faint of heart. You end up covered with black jewelers rough dust and as the cloth pads wear down it makes a big mess. It will probably turn brown again first rain anyway.

Not with an occasional clean up it won't. Looks beautiful, nice job. What else is a guy gonna do during a winter over anyway?

Hey that does look sharp, guess I may polish my pipes.... instead of my knob

I thought S/S won't "hold" the polish as long as other metals, not that it fades, but that it loses the brightness/gloss/sheen. Especially the exhaust that suffers heat cycles.

Maybe some "pro" will speak up.

WOW!!!

Now, that's impressive! I'm always cleaning my bike (as I am sure the peeps at the EOM can attest to), but I am not sure if I could find the time to do this.

Well, I have the week off and need another bike prodject. What else can I do? Man, I hope spring gets here soon or I just may go after the frame!

Oh, I got an idea.............

Can you tell us the the process and the items needed to achieve, hopefully?, the same results?
Thanks!
Sure. If you look in the top picture, well, that's everything. A die grinder, but you need an air regulator to slow it down a bit. An arbor to hold the little cloth wheels. Some 2" cloth wheels, get a dozen. I think I used 6 on the pipes. An that stuff in the blue tube I believe is called white polishing compound. The compound is hard like a rock. When you spin the cloth wheel against the compound it melts and transfers to the wheel. Then buff away. You can buy all the stuff here:

https://www.eastwoodco.com/

Look under Metal Buffing and Finishing and mini buffs.

If you look at the shelf in the top picture you will see it's covered with black crap. And in the second photo the rag and all. This is a messy deal. You end up with a black face. Vacuums up and washes off easily though.

I started another prodject on the bike today. Worked it today from noon to 2 AM. Didn't get half way. Gonna take another 2 days to finish. I'll post up pics when I get it done.

Stay tuned. :D
