Started my 05 for the ride to work this morning and noticed that I didn't have any headlights. That's strange, they were BOTH working just fine last night when I got home. Flipped the high beams on and they were OK, and since it was after sunrise, didn't worry about it. Arrived home before dark and replaced the bulbs, found the low beam filaments on both bulbs shot. Replacement bulbs are working, but we'll see tomorrow morning on the way to work.

I found it a little disturbing that BOTH would burn out at the same time. Since the replacements are working, I'm not sure if it was just a great big coincidence, or if there is some sort of electrical problem looming ahead. No codes or ***** lights are on, and the bike runs as good as ever. Any thought from some of the experienced ones?

05 ABS model with 30200 miles. I have the YES if it turns out to be more than a coincidence. Burned out bulbs were the European GE's 55/60W with brighter output. Installed the European Phillips brighter output bulbs.

Those hard come downs after the wheelie are hard on headlight lamps! :D :p

Odds are the lamps should last about the same amount of time so I wouldn't worry.

30 grand on an 05? So not every clown on here is a poser? Cool. You just made my "A" list, vstar.

There have been several posts over the years about headlights toasting either simultaneously or very near so. My '04 burned two lights out withing a couple hours of each other.

I don't think I'd worry about it.

You might want to consider switching to European SilverStar bulbs. Supposedly, they are better made and a little more durable. Certainly put out a lot better light than stock.

+1 on the OSRAM lamps. I just put them in two bikes and they are brighter than the stock Yamaha lamps. I haven't had them long enough to know about durability.

Will the fork brace really get rid of the front tire cupping? That is the only negative thing I've found with my 04 (19,000 on the clock). Should I get one for the 06 when they become available? (Sorry for going off topic)

That's what they say, and other members seem to agree with the claims. See https://www.motorcyclelarry.com/FJR1300FB.aspx

The superbrace site says the same thing. https://www.superbrace.com/
