No, I'm not getting rid of the FJR. My GF rides a Heritage Softail and the kind of rides she likes to do aren't much fun on the FJR. Now I won't be as inclined to run off and leave her when the road gets twisty, although the Valk can really move when I want it to.

Nice! Year? Model? I had a '99 Interstate that I sold last Fall. Nice bike but I'll probably never own another non-fuel injected bike particularly one with six carbs.

Hey good for you. I had a Valkyrie Tourer back in 2002. Huge torque and a truly unique cruiser. Have a great time on it.

Gotta say, I'm a wee bit jealous. I've always liked the Valkyrie. As a matter of fact, I was shopping for one when I tripped across my first FJR. Bought that instead. Just this past week, I was perusing Craigslist ads to see if there were any low-mileage Interstates available. Just looking though (in case my wife asks) <_<

I looked at the Valk for quite a while before I bought the FJR. It's a great bike and I'd still like one. (never thought about adjusting 6 carbs - ouch.)

I was keeping my eyes open for a Valkyrie in 2006 when I came across my FJR. I was looking for a replacement for my aging 1979 XS Eleven Special. I'm really not a cruiser guy, I put low bars on the XS so it was more like a standard.

Nobody was making the kind of bike I was looking for in '06. I wanted 4 cylinders, shaft drive and no bodywork. I found out I could only get 2 out of 3. The salespeople at the bike shops would show me bikes like the Kawasaki Z1000, Yamaha FZ1, etc which all had chain drive. I told them I had to have a shaft and they would show me the v-twin cruisers. Althought the Valkyrie has 6 cylinders it has all the other requirements, and decent ergonomics (not feet forward).

I never regretted getting the FJR. It's a great bike and does what I want it to do very well. As for the Valkyrie, I wanted a bike that was good for taking a passenger. I'm extra careful when I've got a passenger and it bothers me when I ride the FJR way too far within its limits, if that makes any sense.

Makes perfect sense to me. I had the Valk Interstate for 2-up riding with my wife and a Blackbird for solo sport-tour riding. My wife used to dose off on the back of the Valkyrie occasionaly. Alas she lost her nerve for riding with me (too many bad stories of accidents and afraid our kids would be orphaned) so once she made that announcement and after pretending to show the requisite amount of disappointment, I sold the Valk and the Bird and bought the FJR. :yahoo:

I would have never considered taking her out on the Bird or the FJR as she would be too nervous and I would consequently not enjoy the ride either.

Going tomorrow to Indiana to pick up my "new to me" 1999 Interstate. Will post pics when I return. Hope she looks as good in person as she does in the pictures. Schaweeeeet.
