Ok, So today I finally got around to installing the new Penske shock and noticed on my 05 that nothing is attach to the bracket

that the hard/soft is normally attached too.

Has anyone removed this bracket? It is held on with four bolts that attach to the lower rear sub-frame. The only thing I think it would be useful for is adding some stuffness to the rear sub-frame.

What does everyone think?

If you had ABS, the unit does attach to that bracket.

That said...I wouldn't remove it. Having just had my subframe off I think it does add some structural integrity to subframe....especially given the grade of fasteners and the specially embedded nuts. I just think it's there more than a place to attach shock and ABS parts too.

Also, I'd also leave it in case you need to rebuild your custom shock....you got parts to put your old one back in temporarily.

I installed a Penske last week and lee at traxxion told me to take that bracket off and keep it with the OEM shock.

I think you should leave it on. When non-FJR riders ask you what it's for you can tell them that it indicates your state of arousal.

Sorry I should have mentioned that it is a Non-ABS bike.

Thanks for the input. It is sort of 50/50 right now on removing the bracket. I will see what happens when it truely comes time to get on the bike and start riding it. To many things left to do to the bike before it gets on the road. Like clutch line tonight.

Again thanks for the input everyone, and please add to this thread on what you did....
