I have installed Carbone Lorraine SBK5 Brake pads.

As I was cleaning up, I noticed on the back of stock Yamaha pads, thin metal backing

plates.

Are these anti-rattle plates?

Are they nessasary?

Guess who's gonna have another round of brake pad removal/reinstall? :D

If you haven't gleaned the information, by the earlier replies, yes they are stainless steel shims and need to be transferred to the new pads.

I disagree. Some aftermarket pads have a special ceramic backround. You don't want to put them shims on those.
