Record breaking highs in the greater Seattle area Sunday, with more of the same today. Ambient air temp sensor saw 94 a couple of times. Maybe not "hot" to some of you non-PNW riders, but to those of us in the land of fungii...its roasting.

Overall, I was impressed with the heat management on the '06. Did notice a bit of heat flowing over the legs at times, but it was never to the point of being uncomfortable. I'd say it was on par with most of the big fours I've ridden.

Couple of observations:

1. Mesh gear works. First time with a mesh jacket in the heat. Riding season now extended.

2. "Clothing Optional" riders never cease to amaze me. I know its hot folks, but how about a sanity check?

Even a 5mph get-off can be hazardous to your hide. Don't believe it? Well try putting on your usual hot weather "riding gear" (short, tank top, flip-flops). Then run as fast as you can and fling yourself onto the pavement. Leaves a mark, yes?

Anyway...minor rant over. Your body, your choice. Just makes me cringe to see it.

I've never heard that "test" before, that's a good one.

I still don't understand the flip flops, though. Shifting must rip the tops of your feet up pretty good.

Oh, well. Live (or not) and learn, I guess.

Yes, I find it's a little tough on the upshifts with flip flops. It always feels like I'm going to break the bone that goes to my big toe, just before the big knucle. If I wear leather sandals, though, it's not nearly so bad.

Either way... cutting curves=trimming toenails. And it often leaves one of those little bloody bare spots where the epidermis gets ground next to the toenail. I hate that.

This is why I ordered an AE. Now I can wear flip flops and not have to worry about the foot shifting any more.
