I just put on a set of 023's. (Non GT) So I will try to keep up on how they do for me.

So far with one day long ride I have no complaints. I was leading a noob out for her first long day on her new bike, so it was not too aggressive for a good test.

This will be my fifth set of tires. So for mileage comparison, here's what I have:

1st set:

Oem Metzlers probably could have gotten about 7k, but got a razor blade in the rear. Front cupped, but maybe 9k could have been possible.

2nd set:

Pr2's For the most part an excellent tire for wear and handling. Had 12k when rear when replaced poss another 1k left in center. replaced before 21/2 week crosscountry trip. Cupped in front maybe another 2k possible

3rd set:

Pr2's: Got 12k out of these tires before replacing for yet another long distance interstate run. same wear as above set

----- had 3-4 times when the front slide out on me with the PR2's Only happened with the bike loaded on the tail. No issues with just myself, but just didn't feel all that confident on the really twisty roads when the bike was leaning a good bit.

4th set:

Pirelli Angel's: By the the best tire for me so far. I never felt more confident in the turns. Tires were sure footed in heavy twisties with considerable lean on a loaded bike. Loved the tire, but the rear was showing cord at 8k. Front had very mild cupping, but otherwise still maybe 1-2k remaining.

Now I am trying the 023's to see what kind of mileage I can get out of them. I commute with the FJR, so mileage is the main issue for me. We'll see how it goes.

I believe the main source for the cupping front tires is the road crown here in Va. My commute includes 60 miles of highway, So my tires are slightly on edge riding on the hard and soft transition zones of the tires.

Did you purposely choose to not run the "GT" version (a tire designed/built specifically for bikes like the FJR) -- or, was it unavailable to you?

Yes. Money is tight and found them on sale when the money was around. 212 shipped for a set. The gt set would have been almost another 100.

The previous model tires I've used all had "gt" versions as well, but I have been using the the "regular" version with no issues so far. I am only traveling loaded about one weekend a month, if that. Otherwise, just going for mileage for the commute.

Been running PR2's for several sets but wanted to try something different. If you're interested in a set of GTs on the cheap, check out Chaparral Motorsports for just under $223 a set delivered.

In a few thousand miles we'll see how they fair...

So, now I have a set of new PR2s on my FJR and I just discovered that there is a specific "spec" tire for BMWs and FJRs - a "B" spec tire. I assume this is similar to the "GT" Bridgestones. Is this correct, and should I go back to the shop and insist on "B" tires on the rear? I hate to be a pain in the ---, but will I get less performance if I do not have the "B" tire on? A little help please from all you PR2 users.

Jim,

The "B" Spec PR2 or PR3 has 3 Ply Sidewalls instead of 2 Ply. Most, including myself us the Regular Tire and it even has MORE Tread than the 3 Ply does.

Unless you are very Heavy and do a great deal of 2 Up riding very fast, you should be fine with the Regular PR version.

Hope this helps...

I just turned 10K miles on the BT 023 GT...although it is lasting as long as the PR2, the ride is still "rough" compared to the PR2. I think I'll either be going back to the PR2 or trying the PR3.

Just out of curiosity, your tire pressure? suspension?

The reason I ask is I've the GT spec on mine for (dunno maybe 3 or 4k) and the Last thing I'd call them is "rough"? There's no chatter, noise, vibration... nothing negative at all for me...

I didn't find them "rough" either. I just put on a new set of Avon Storm 2 Ultras and expected them to feel softer than the 023's, but the Avon's don't feel any better than the 023's to me. I think I'll do the 023's again after the Avons are gone.

I run 39 front and 41 rear. Tried a few lbs either direction, but this seems to be the best for my weight and riding style. It's hard to quantify, but the ride just feels a little harsher than the PR2s. I can "feel" the road a little more and it's not as smooth as the PR2s.
