Rode my '09 through winter here in Seattle, except for the snow/ice/freezing fog days, with a 023GT on the Front, original 021 Rear. Stopping is very good, stability in turns is very good. Conditions between light mist to very heavy rain that had me slowed down to less than 40 mph just so I could see. Mostly freeway commuting.

A note about my experience with BT023 GTs.

I'm about to change out a front BT023 GT. It's done over 8700 miles. Its profile is still reasonable.

It's still got over 2mm of tread left:

It still behaves like new; no problems turning in, holds the line through a corner perfectly. (Not that I necessarily choose the best line

.) On wet and dry (and nasty UK dank greasy roads) it grips the best of any tyre I've tried (Metzler on this and Avon Storm ST and BT021 on my previous FJR).

I'm going on a 2000-odd mile trip in a couple of weeks (Spain and Portugal)

, I suspect it would do it, but I don't want to risk tyre problems. In the UK we're legally required to have 1mm tread depth. Don't want to come off the return ferry to have Mr Plod stop me riding home.

I'm putting on the bike's original front Metzler, it had done 1900 miles when I took it off, I know it hasn't got quite the secure feel of the BT023, but it is still OK (much, much better than the BT021 front).

While I'm at it, I'm changing the rear from a Metzler to a BT023 GT. I only hope the grip balance between front and rear is still OK.

I've not tried Michelins, all I know is they are much more expensive than the Bridgestones, and I get the impression that they haven't quite got the same grip level.

I'm totally sold on the BT023 GT.
