Ollie was one of 2 brothers riding for the Naturally Best team, until this year known as the Vivaldi superbike team. He had graduated and grown with the team through the ranks and had become a top ten finisher at BSB, this year giving some of his best performances to date.

Ollie lost control in the left hand kink on the approach to the hairpin. There is very little run off and Ollie suffered a big impact and died at the track despite efforts to revive him.

He wrote a column in 'Racer' magazine which was usually highly amusing, and only last weekend he had the crowds in hysterics with his annecdotes when he briefly joined the commentary team at Oulton Park.

He was well liked and respected by all, and always had time to talk to anyone who approached him. He could often be seen watching the other racing and practice sessions, rather than sitting in his motorhome like other riders.

All practice for this weekends racing has at this time been suspended.

Everyone is totally stunned. RIP lad.

He was 21, his brother who also races for the same team is younger.

It's 10.30am Saturday as I write and there is still no movement at Mallory. It is looking like the meeting will be abandond. From feedback I have had from the circuit no-one has any heart for it.

EDIT: No practice at Mallory at all today, but its because of foul weather not the accident. The circuit is awash and the racing will go ahead on Sunday if it dries out any. The grid positions will be decided on current championship standings.

No practice? after what just happened, I hope theres no more nasty surprises.

James Toseland dedicated his win at the World Superbike round to Ollie.

The BSB racing went ahead without any qualifying. All grids were formed on the bassis of current championship standings. The day was dry and bright and the racing was good, and mainly incident free.

There was a 2 minute silence at the start in honour of Ollie, and Shane Byrne who brought the Stobart Honda team its first ever win dedicated the win to Ollie.

Even after a great and busy weekends racing at home and world level with JT getting a 1-2, there is still a huge black cloud hanging over everyone connected with the sport here. I know it happens all the time in motor sport, but we seem to be having more than our share of late.
