After completing a valve check on my 05, I realized I couldn't get the cam up high enough to change the shim. I found that the valve on I4-2 was tight. I made arrangements to take my bike to Joes Cycles. I removed the plastics before I took it over. Steve, the mechanic who worked on my bike actually found that both valves on intake 4 were tight and replaced two shims.
I called to arrange the service appointment two weeks in advance. I dropped the bike off the night before and was called around noon the next day to let me know it was ready to be picked up. I supplied the shims and a new valve cover gasket. All they charged me was 2.5 hours labor. I picked up the bike and it was perfect. With a state inspection and a liter of fork oil (I gotta service the forks soon), the total bill was $303.00. These guys treated me honestly and I thought pretty fairly.
The sell only used bikes and will take bikes on consignment, so their "bread and butter" is service.
If you're in the area, I recommend them for service work.
