OK, it was -19 degrees here in Cheyenne this morning. This is early for this crap! Who can beat that? Come on, I know you guys in NoDak and MN have it worse than we do!

What you talking about? It was 8 here in central Indiana. You don't have to be in the Dakaotas to be cold.

And don't forget those folks north of the border, either. Talk about Brrr....

Then there's Alaska.....

Glad my Widders came yesterday!

U bunch of whiners!! it was 18 all the way down here in Vicksburg, MS yesterday morning. Ya'll are suppose to be used to that weather, you should'nt even have your vests plugged in yet. It was 76 here last Saturday--try riding that yo yo for a while.

Ok, Ok. You still haven't beaten my 19 below though. 18 above is cozy donaldb :haha: We don't break out the heated vest above 15. Hell, it's probably warmer in Alaska today then it is here!

wyowags, I swear, I don't know how you people do it, ya'll have to be masochists! I was up in Bismarck in the fall of 04, the sidewalks and bricks of buildings had exploded and crumbled. I inquired and was told it was caused by extreme cold winter temps. No thinks, I keep my winter even if I have to dodge a few tornadoes and hurricanes during the summer, be glad to switch summers w/you! :bleh:

Wyowags,

Was listening to Denver radio this morning and I thought I heard them say that your windchill was -42! Really? Lived there for 10 years and just couldn't take the cold and wind anymore. Home town of Sheridan was -15 this AM so was close to you but without the wind.

Donaldb,

I inspect bridges for WYDOT all year long, all over the state. You should see what the weather does to some of them! The summers and falls are great here. Winter is just a seven month annoyance. Wyosteve, you know how it is. The wind does get a tad old sometimes. It wasn't windy at all this morning here in Cheyenne. Maybe 10mph. But I think that put the wind chill around 30 - 35 below. Could have been outside of town though. Just came in from lunch and it's a balmy 5 degrees outside now. Almost t-shirt weather! I love Sheridan though. I'd like to move there after the kids are done with school here. I do a lot of hunting and fishing up in that neck of the woods. One of my cronies lives there. The Bighorns are awesome! I grew up on Lake Erie in PA so this isn't a lot different. Just a severe lack of humidity. Which I don't miss one bit!

wyowags, I know a girl, her name is Renee, cant recall her last name, red headed, she worked for the state of Wy loss control, safety and claims department--maybe she still does, I cant recall. She was a member of our STRIMA (State Risk & Insurance Managers Association). U by chance know her since you work for wydot?

Wyowags,

Plan on moving up there in three or 4 years when I take an early retirement. Have mom and family up there. Would like to ride the bike up there and do the Big Horns. Only downside is 400 miles each way across windy ol' Wyoming. But may do it next summer if I can find the time.

Who is your crony up there?

Steve

Wyosteve,

His name is Ken Muller. He's the Resident Eng. for wydot up there. Has a couple of brothers too. Scott and Neil. How about Paul Perry? He and his dad have a ranch out at Wyarno. Know any of the Demple boys or Dan Lyons? If you're in Denver, we should hook up for a ride sometime. Maybe Poudre Canyon or the Estes cruise when riding weather retuns.

OMG!!!! Renee married a good friend of mine. Once you know Renee, you can never forget her. Did she ever shut up when she was around you? Sorry, but I find her to be a very annoying woman. Nice person, but very annoying. She was the risk manager for the state here. I dated her co-worker SallyAnn for a while. They are down in Greenwood Village, by Denver, now. Haven't seen them in a about a year.

Kurt

You are correct, she never shut up and I think I also met SallyAnn, I think I met her either at a conference in Monterey or down here in Biloxi, MS--small world! Thought maybe she had left Wy, seems like the last time I saw her she was bragging about getting married and moving, that is why I was thinking she no longer worked for the state of Wy. Stay warm if you can!

I don't know what was up in Dallas Texas today but our main headquarters is there and we got an email that one of them was leaving eary because of the weather???? Huh?

Wyowags,

Used to hunt out at Wyarno on Paul Wantalok's ranch. Think that is near the Perry's. Don't know any of the Mullers, went to Catholic school with the Demples. Know Steve Cook, I think he is a Wydot engineer in Laramie. Grew up with him. Have a buddy up in Greeley with an R-1, we do a lot of canyon carving when the snow goes away. Was up in Deer Creek canyon a couple of weeks ago but it was getting a little iffy then. No chance now. That's what the eastern plains are for I guess. We should try to hook up. Still have friends up in Cheyenne, get up there every once in awhile.

I don't even go out if it's 15. I might wear my Widder vest in my Subaru, but not on my FJR. I don't need to ride THAT bad.

MINUS 19 does suck. You better move while you still can (as in not frozen solid...) :p

Wyosteve,

I go flyfishing with Matt Demple once or twice a year. He's down your way somewhere. Has his own electrician business. I see Greg once a year or so too. He's in Cody now. I think Steve is the resident engineer in Laramie now. Get in touch with me when ya get up this way and we'll quaff a cold one.

donaldb,

Bragging is right. She's good at that. Poor Charlie!! They should be up this way soon. Usually see them around the holidaze. I believe SallyAnn took over Renee's job when she moved to Denver.

FJRocket,

That's some funny shit there! I grew up with a guy that had a VW beetle and I wish I would have had a heated vest when we were out cruisin' in it. I think our Zippo's put out more heat than the car did. No sense in moving now, my blood is already thickened up. It's only 8 below this morning so things are looking up!

Now you've struck a note there. I had a beetle back in the 70's. Remeber that thing frosting up from the inside out and never thawing out. Thanks for bringing back that fu..fu..fond muh..muh..memory. :D

Peeps are panick stricken here. We might get THREE inches of snow!

Temperature around 20 with windchill in single digits; ice on the roads and thousands of minor collisions. Lots of Texans don't know how to drive on ice! That's because we rarely have to, fortunately. It's great, though, everything shuts down and we get a day or two off.

That was yesterday but today the office is closed.

Ice.

Years ago I tried my hand at driving a semi. Boyd was the company and for coil training we had to go to Alabama. One day while we were at the hotel it snowed about an inch.

The entire city shutdown. Cops were even out blocking the roads and such.

Pretty amazing. Being from the north I am use to having to drive in several inch's at some point almost each winter. We also have huge crews out with any mention of snow.

I realize in many states in the south they don't budget anything for this as it is rare.

It was a sight.
