zorkler -- in the first post, would you please put a nice, simple explanation of how this thing works? Things were so scattered in the other thread that I think there's a lot of confusion. Once nice, simple explanation in the most accessible place is likely to pull in more contributors.

What i would like to put out to all the FJR Members for the NEW YEAR is this for every 500 miles 2 cents be donated to the Memorial SLOAN kETTERING BREAST CANCER CENTER . Example this year we put up 714,000 make it a round number divide by 500 equals 1428 times 2 cents equals $28.56 per member that posted up this 2009 number was 103 =$2941.68. .At the end of every month i will post the $BUCKS for ****S tOTAL . At the end of 2010 the miles will be totaled up and the final $CASH AMOUNT will be posted and collected via pay pal , cach ,check, moneyorder , Or you can Donate with out putting up any miles . Any Questions please feel free to contact me . Thanks Denise & Mike

2 like threads merged. Pagagraphs (of a sort) added to the first post to make it close to understandable.

Charity work is laudable but lets not go overboard with scattered duplicates.

If you're inclined to post mileages, let's keep them all together (here).

Will there be another member of the FJR board who has access to this paypal account to serve as an independent audit function? Just to give people a warm and happy feeling about their donations?

1. I trust ya, Zorkler.

2. I like to keep my life simple.

Paypal "in the mail." Hope I ride enough this year to get my money's worth. :D Good luck with this.

Weaton , I Love you TOO .
Zorkler,

Having another member as an auditing function is common in fundraising. It instills trust among strangers who wish to donate and shows everybody that you have nothing to hide...as that other person can verify for you that all the money went where it was intended.

It was a just an innocent question, I'm sorry you took it as a slam.

My wife is a breast cancer survivor. Due to the fact that my bike is trashed I don't know how many miles I will have if any so I sent a paypal to your cause.

Neither the FJR Forum, its members nor it's administrators or owners are directly or indirectly responsible for this activity. The OP posted it here using FJRForum as a vehicle to spread the word about a charity they are passionate about. Individual's participation is a personal decision and does not imply an endorsement of/by the previously-mentioned people, groups, etc.

The search for a cure for breast cancer is a noble undertaking but a persons choice to participate an any charity or fund raiser should be approached with the same consideration given to any such activity. My mother is a survivor of BC, too. My choices of charities or fund raisers for charities is a personal thing. As an individual I encourage everyone to find charities they are passionate about and help as they can if that is what they choose to do. That is neither an an endorsement nor condemnation of this particular fund raiser.

This particular charity event slid by and was allowed to finish for 2009, but it's not going on for another year. Sorry.

Some regulars will remember we had some bad mojo in the past with a different charity effort that went horribly awry...and we're just not wanting risk going down that road again. And if you let one charity thing on...everybody has a charity that's just as deserving.

Don't get me wrong. Charity is a wonderful thing! I've personally had people close to me that have had breast cancer...several surviving...one not. But in matters of charity we leave it to your individual conscience to decide outside the forum.

And yes.....I know....we've had a few special charity events here before. But they were generally supporting our own forum members or family in a particular crisis. (i.e. Tyler, TWN, Orangevale, etc.) And they arranged with administrator approval PRIOR to starting them.

So, please no more charity promotion threads or posts on the forum.

Thanks.

The Management
