And boy is my butt sore! :yahoo: But we pulled it off as planned. James on an '04 BMW R1150R Rockster and I on my Feej. Started Friday the 24th at 5:00am and headed to I-10 where we headed west towards El Paso. We turned around in Balmorhea and headed back home. First leg in 16hrs 30min, 1068 miles. Made it home at 9:45pm, a quick meal and shower, then off to bed for 6hrs. Got up Sat. the 25th, and headed down south towards Brownsville, TX at 6:00am. Turned around in Raymondville,Tx at 10:00am and headed back home. Arrived at 2:15 with a milage of 504mi. All mileage according to Map Quest, but our odometers, read 1625 miles. yeah I know margin of error and all. Unfortunately both our GPS went dead before Balmorhea, probably from the heat, so we could not use state of the art tech. There is more to tell but I don't want to bore you yet and I'm pretty tired. More later. Steve

Wow! That is quite a deal with the heat SHRuuM - CONGRATS!

Thanks Shawn. The temp was 102 at 2:00pm and at that stop I switched back to MPG reading cause I didn't want to know how hot it was at 4pm  The high plains gave us time and distance but took away strength and endurance. Thank goodness for 6hrs of sleep and a nice LIGHT shower for 30miles to wake us up and give a surge of adrenaline. :yahoo:

Congratulations! What seat do you have, and did you have any seat accessories on the bike (beads, sheepskin pad, etc)?

Congrats on your ride!

High heat can be an ass-kicker, no doubt! I usually leave on my trips at around midnight here in Arizona in the summertime.

You've accomplished a ride I have not. And probably won't, my tender little Candy Butt Ass just can't take it.

But congratulations to you, very nice ride!

I had my seat redone by Spencer clicky and it worked quite well. Best 100bucks ever and a seven day turnaround. No sheepskin or beads but finally found some beads for 16 bucks but too late to order. After 52 years of riding though I finally see the wisdom in a throttle stop or cruise control. Beside the butt the wrist was giving me fits by the tenth hour but was fine for the eight hour leg the next day. Just four basic positions. Bolt upright feet on pegs, bolt upright with feet on rear pegs, laying down on the tank bag with arse all the way on the back of seat, and the sweet spot saved for last, bolt upright right up against the tank where the seat made this nice cradle form to my bottom and thighs. :D

Thanks, but if this broke dick body can do it anybody can with the right mental attitude and an mp3 player :yahoo: But it is nice to be among the elite. I just don't think I could do the Key West Florida to Deadhorse Alaska, in 30 days but I am wondering......

trip. easy - cheap solution (For partial aid) $11 Cramp buster wide... wow ! They do help !

I have vista, but combined with a buster, no problems ... no pain...
