From there website: The Bushtec pin hitch for the Yamaha FJR 1300 will 2006-current models of the FJR 1300 motorcycle. Includes powder coated hitch with pin, stainless steel locking system with dust cover and complete hardware kit.

You might call Bushtec and ask them to make sure. I had an 03 and then my 08 and I don't know where they are different as for as where the hitch attaches, unless it is the difference in length to the passenger pegs.

No it won't work on a gen 1

The wheel base is different on Gen2's. Slightly longer. My guess is that is why it won't work.
