cable lock

I'll probably catch flack for not seeing the obvious, but here goes. My brother bought me a cable lock for Christmas. A really nice one. The lock goes over the head of a bolt and the cable through the lock. Question is, where is there an open bold? I have a 2005. I don't have a top case, but the bolt there is recessed so I can't get on it. Suggestions greatly appreciated.

Hmmm. I'm not sure what you're trying to do. I don't have a cable lock (like that, I have one that I use that is huge,I use it to lock up my bike, I stick it thru the rim and around a post, fits in my saddle bag) or understand what you're trying to lock with it. A pix of the cable lock, and more info might help me out, or not....

It locks helmets through the D rings. One cable is long enough to run down the sleve of a jacket. Yeah, I know I have saddle bags.

There is a bolt on the right side of the steering neck that retains the brake line, IIRC. 10mm head. I've had one there for years. Use it for locking the jacket to the bike on occasions when I'm too far away at lunch to watch it.

Gotcha.

I have a small cable I run under the seat to a large post on the tool tray. I loop it thru the D-ring or face shield hole, and the other end is over the large nut, actually the nut is a long nut, more like a stud or post. Put the seat back on and it's locked.
