I would encourage you to ensure your Hydration system is in top-notch shape.... look at these temps expected for Rally Headquarters in Dunnigan, California:

Yep - those are Killer temps. Literally.

WC's calling it right, folks - make darn sure you're sucking down fluids at ALL TIMES during the Cal24.

Dehydration sucks, aside from the fact that it's a really lousy and preventable reason for DNF.

Thanks for the heads up but 90 in Dunnigan in June is actually on the cool side, considering it could easily be triple digits. As long as they keep us out of Death Valley there is hope. This is my first rally and being I am riding my 04 ball cooker it will be a toasty event no matter what the temps. Just hoping not to DNF or get lost

Wish we could get some of that heat up this way. It snowed on Santiam Pass on Hwy 20 in Oregon yesterday. More damn rain here today. Sure hard to take after that beautiful Nevada sunshine.

Yeah, wasn't that nice weather? Usually Nevada is roasting, or freezing, or both in the same day.

As for the Cal - this could be the rally debut of my Colorado Coolvest. Bring it on, Heatgods! :****:

Heck - that is nothing more than prime Halfabusa weather!

I just was checking before I saw this thread and we are looking at mid 90's in Redding and a nice cool 85 or so in the mountains. That is nothing more than perfect weather for a die up through the Trinity Alps. I'm more accustomed to about 105 or so through the valley during this time of year so I will be packing my Gerbing for this rally.

Of course Warchild forgot to mention the low 40's projected for the mountains and this being the Cal 24 - I am not expecting to run up and down I-5.

I rode in 94 degree temps in Georgia on Sunday with mesh gear and a cooling vest from www.coolingapparel.com and was absolutely comfortable. There are other manufacturer's for these garments; so google for them. No need to be hot!! Kind of like YBCold?

Looks like it's gonna be even hotter Rally Headquarters in Dunnigan, California then previously thought:

WC stay up in the high country to Truckee. Use 80 to hwy 20 down through Yuba Shitty. Once past Meridian cut down over to Arbuckle (just above Dunnigan on 5) Local weather says it will only be 97 on Friday  Ca now has a leo behind every tree.

No, no, you don't understand... I **WANT** to get down into this heat!!!! :D

Weather-wise, this has been one of the most fucked up winter/springs in recent memory. We are way, Way, WAAAAAAAY lower in our temps than we are supposed to be, and it is constantly giving me an extreme case of DAP (Distinct Attitude Problem).

Take this morning, for example. I had to put my frickin' liner back in the jacket to ride into work.... 47 degrees Fahrenheit!!!!! C'mon, it's almost the middle of June, dammit, let's see some warmth here!!!

Yeeeeeah, baby.... *dat's* what I'm talkin' 'bout!!!!

Departing tomorrow evening at sundown.... this run will be sweet: mid-30's through central Oregon after midnight, then triple-digit ambient temps by the time I reach Dunnigan early Friday afternoon. Exxxxxxxxcellent!

So the weather is shaping up nice; too bad my rally prep regimen hasn't changed much over the years.... even as I type this, the Hayabusa lies all torn asunder in the garage as I desperately try to lay down a circuit for the Valentine 1. Because I dicked away the time-line and only sent in the old Valentine for an upgrade last Friday, the new one won't be here until the day of departure, Thursday!

So I went ahead and tore apart the Blackbird's V1 circuit and am installing it on the Hayabusa, so that when the new V1 arrives (no doubt just hours before departure), all's I have to do is plug it into the tankbag and away I go.

Looking forward to this adventure... my Staff duties at the Cal 24 are pure evil. This oughta be good......

I thought that thing was so fast you could avoid all encounters with LEO. I'll lend you a pair of pliers so you can rip out all that extra wire that's just going to slow you down. Or do you want to borrow my Starcom1 so you can actually hear it when it goes off?? ;)

Y'all have a good time down there, we'll be watching for the updates and ride reports. I know who I'm rooting for (Jerry, Jerry, Jerry.....).

Nice try, but there is no "extra wire".... one uses existing wire harnesses and tap off of them. Just the V1 power supply module was installed.

Or do you want to borrow my Starcom1 so you can actually hear it when it goes off??
If I wanted reliable audio, it damn sure wouldn't be the Starcom1 unit!!!

No, I have the Valentine audio module in addition to the Remote Display, so I can see - and hear - when the V1 alerts.... no problamo. B)
