Several years ago there was an article in Motorcycle Consumer News, written by an ex-USAF fighter pilot, advocating that we all ride as if every driver on the road was intentionally trying to kill us.

That said, riding while focusing on the fun (with or without a Beach Boys soundtrack) is also mandatory.
