Many of you know Frank 'Ziggy' Ziegler so we wanted to share some info with
you. Ziggy has been fighting (and I do mean FIGHTING) cancer for some time
and sadly Zig is really struggling right now.
He is currently at a Hospice/Extended Care facility and Dean and I visited
him yesterday afternoon. Last night Dean sent this description of our visit
to some friends:
We got to Ziggy's Hospice care facility in Canoga Park, around 12:30PM
and spent an estimated 2 hours with him. When we arrived Ziggy was
sitting up in bed eating lunch alone. He looked good and seemed to
have a good appetite. He is getting loads of pain killer medication
via a computerized dispensing unit. He immediately recognized us and
brought up several subjects we discussed last time.
Ziggy's mind is still filled with ideas and plans. He mixes them all
together so the conversation switches back and forth and goes off on
many tangents. But it's clear to see that Ziggy still loves to
engage in person to person talk!! ) After a while we could see he
was tiring and nodding-off so we ended our visit.

The thing that is most distressing is that we found Ziggy alone in his room.
His wife is wheelchair bound and it is very difficult for her to get there
and his daughter has a full time job. To my way of thinking, that just
leaves more time that his friends can share with him. Zig is surely THE most
social guy on the planet and very much appreciates spending time with his
friends. I know we can make this happen so I am posting his address here in
hopes that many of you can make a spot in your hectic schedule to spend time
with a friend in need. As Dean explained, he is still a joy to be with and I
know you'll be blessed by your time with him, as he will be that you stopped
by.

Visiting hours: 11am-8pm
It's a very nice facility and you just need to ask for 'Ziggy' at the desk
in the lobby - not surprising that the whole staff seems to know him by his
nickname. We went in (very dirty) motorcycle gear and that didn't wasn't a
problem for them. There is lots of street parking available so it's easy to
access.
Thanks everyone - whether you spend 10 minutes there or 2 hours, it will be
time well spent and the sooner the better please.
If you know of any other lists where Ziggy was active, please re-post.
