Has anyone had success in removing the warning sticker that is on the tank, just north of the fuel fill cap? I tried to start taking mine off and it seems practically super-glued to the darn tank. :angry2:

I'm extremely paranoid about scratching the potentially soft paint right and I'm looking for any tips. I know there has to be a method out there...

Heat it with a hair dryer. Just did mine yesterday.

I did mine the day after I got home with it. I just took my time and used my finger nail. Then got the residue with that orange stuff (Goo Gone). Then waxed the tank. Can't tell it was there. But it was a bugger to get off. I didn't want to risk heating it, but that may help. Just be careful how hot you get it. I would not use a heat gun - they are made for removing paint!

I wondered if the hair dryer was the way to go, but exactly, I was worried it might get too hot too quick. I will just be delicate and not let it get too hot I 'spose unless someone else has a better idea.

I have a heat gun - used it carefully and the stickers (two, one English, the other French) peeled off leaving some residue - goof-off took care of that, followed by a light wax.

-yeah, that "LA" (lawyer adhesive) is some tough ****, isn't it? Like bramfrank, took mine off with carefully applied heat from a heat gun; followed up with WD-40 for the residue, then cleaned it & waxed it.

Everyone is saying to finish up with goof off or WD-40...that's the part that scares me. I feel like this paint is softer than...well, you know...

I'm being overly cautious likely, but taking this one sticker off is going to turn into a multi-day job as slow as I'm going...

I used a hair dryer on low heat and then carefully scraped the sticker off with pocket knife blade. Cleaned up the residue with WD-40, then waxed it. No problems.

Pull it off as best you can and then clean the sticky stuff left behind with Mineral Spirits. Mineral Spirits will not hurt the clear coat paint at all. Wax when done.

Alcohol would probably also work.

ripping labels off. I thought they where like mattress tags. Can't you go to jail for that?

+1 on hair dryer and pick off with fingernail.

+1 on follow-up with some wax.

I saw: Mineral Spirits, WD-40, Goo-Gone. I use lighter fluid (like Zippo) -- works good.

I removed mine the day I picked the bike up - razor blade ( very carfully ) and orange goo gone to take the residue off. Then wax it and buff it up to a nice shine.

Duh, the light bulb just went on - I can do the same thing to remove the stupid-*** dealer decal on the back of my cage - great idea.

Thanks folks

The clear plastic on top of the sticker peels off easily with the hair dryer. Then use silicone spray on a kleenex to dissolve the sticker. Works great.

Or WD 40 and patience!
