So this unspeakably callous f-tard repeatedly claims he 'doesn't care' that he deliberately nearly kills two people, but apparently cares about someone attempting to pass him.

His moral compass is seriously messed up.

Hope he is charged and sentenced to the fullest extent, and that his driving privileges are revoked & vehicle impounded.

Creep.

Granbury specifically, southwest of Dallas. Unfortunately more common than you might think.

I've been looking around the 'net and can find the clip on a number of sites but they all show just green screen along with the sound. There's one out there that's apparently on Facebook that's 5 minutes long or so but again, can't see the picture.

Edit: Forgot. Apparently the guy's excuse was that he just got stung by a wasp, which was why he swerved. Right. Sure.....

Had a yellow school bus do the same thing to me. Accept it was a passing zone and a legal pass.

Just kept going to work,

Dave

Guy must be a wasp magnet..

Although this wasn't their fault, imo they would have fared much better with ATGATT

That same type of *** will see how close he can get when passing a bicyclist riding on the side of a road.

Time for full time GoPro type video recording on moto and pedal I guess. If it'll do any good...

That almost happened to Wayne and I on WV 250, coming back from the Jennings Randolph Lake camping trip.
Yes - I remember that; it happens a lot, especially if there is a group of bikes passing - usually the first 2 get around clean, and then the rest of the group gets to deal with "you're not faster than me".

Then again, if we'd just not pass in a no passing zone, we'd have no issues, right Wheatie?

Worst part of this story (outside the genius in the car), is the aggressive riding with a passenger in zero gear.

1. Although it is not against the law, riding with no protective gear is not a good idea.

2. Passing on a double yellow is against the law. Granted, he waited until he could see around before passing. And probably had time.

3. Even if it was an accident, (which I seriously doubt) the driver was at fault.

4. If it was intentional, he should pay dearly in both criminal and civil courts.

5. There is a girl/woman seriously injured. Is there anything the motorcycling community can do to help? After all, her well being is more important than anything.

Hope the rider has some insurance for a passenger. It could well turn out that the girl even if she had health insurance, that insurance company would sue the riders insurance or the rider also (in addition to the driver), to recover medical expenses, especially given the double yellow pass.

Driver has been arrested and charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. each count carries a maximum penalty of 20 years.
Latest CNN post:

"A driver who says a spider bite caused him to swerve into a motorcycle is now charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon."

Thank goodness that we aren't seeing this as a murder case, but dang, it's still a horrific act for someone to commit. How can people think like that? Can't he make up a better lie than that? Well, guess we get a lame lie from a very lame guy.

We should all show up at his bond hearing today!

Passing over a double yellow is not illegal everywhere, but I believe that it is in Texas. Pennsylvania and Vermont are two states that I know of where it is not illegal to pass on a double yellow center line, but many drivers (even ones from those states) do not know the laws so they still get upset when they get passed on a DY. Hell, plenty of *** hat drivers get upset when they get passed completely legally.

I wish that the media would make a really big deal about this guy's case and publicize any penalties so that people do not try this kind of vigilante enforcement elsewhere.

Some excellent observations from someones else:

Nothing the guy on the bike did warranted what the sociopath in the truck did, nothing. His license status, his overtaking on the double yellow, his girlfriends unfortunate choices in riding gear are completely irrelevant to what the sociopath did. He tried to kill them for passing him.

The driver (William Crum) has multiple past convictions for vehicle offenses including "unauthorized use of a motor vehicle" (a felony), and later for a combination of reckless driving and "making a terroristic threat" for which he served 2 years in jail. In addition, William Crum has been convicted of other charges, such as assault and family violence.

Considering his past history of convictions for violent behavior and vehicle-related felonies, coupled with the video (including his post-incident statements) plus his ill-advised statements to the press, I imagine that his defense attorney will recommend that he take whatever plea deal lands on the table. I hope that the District Attorney assures William Crum his right to a speedy trial.

More news:

A 68-year-old man accused of veering his car into a motorcycle, injuring both of its riders, has been arrested on aggravated assault charges.William Crum of Granbury was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Hood County District Attorney Rob Christian said Crum would remain in custody pending a bond hearing Tuesday. He didn't know whether Crum has an attorney who could comment on his behalf.

Each count carries a punishment of two to 20 years in prison if convicted.

The crash happened Saturday on a two-lane road about 5 miles north of Granbury. Eric Sanders, the driver of the motorcycle, contends the car's driver swerved intentionally. He suffered abrasions, and his girlfriend was taken to a Fort Worth hospital with a broken wrist and deep arm lacerations.
