I called them and asked for the sales manager to eliminate some of the hassle. I told him that I heard about them on the FJRforum and needed to see what he could let one go for. He came back with a quote of $11,250 out the door (which he said was cost). He said that he bought 2 of them a couple of months ago from the Yamaha warehouse because they had a couple left over left. He had already sold one. I'm sure that he got a special deal from Yamaha if they had these left over, which means he wasn't really selling them at cost, but I don't really care. I really appreciated the fact that he didn't insult my intelligence like my local dealer who started at $15,500 and wanted to tell me what a deal he was giving me at $14,900  This guy was low key and very professional and I really appreciated that.Hah, its probably the same 07 they had last year. they quoted the same price to me many months ago. I passed and found one for $11K... They were piced way to high on their sport bikes too. I hope you got a better price.
I didn't even haggle with him because I thought the price was more than fair and they have to make a living just like I do. I've been looking for a low mile 2007 for several weeks now and most of them are going for around 10,500 (although I'm sure that there are a few exceptions where someone got a better deal), but for an additional $750 dollars I got a new one, so I'm happy. Very Happy actually! I really appreciate the help and warm welcome that you guys have shown to me as a newbie.
The price sounds great, I paid just a bit less with zero haggle. I wanted the black cherry too, my last bike was black. I was hoping for a bright color for 08/09, didn't get it so I went looking for a left over. Those two bikes you mention were seen by me over three months ago fresh out of the boxes. They had just gotten them and I guess they thought they could move them for more at the time. They wouldn't deal with me so, I went to Bama Power Sports and bought thier last 07 which was collecting cob webs.
I highly recommend getting a cramp buster or throttle rocker for the ride home. I rode my 07 "home" to SC at the time and put 1,000 miles on it in three days. I found I needed a throttle lock and a cramp buster to give my hand a break while slabbing. It took a few weeks but, the stiff throttle does not bother me anymore with the cramp buster. I also recommend changing the rear drive oil soon, at 200 miles mine had metal all in it. I did a quick oil change and fastner check after my first 200 miles before the long haul home from the dealer.
