Can you identify this vintage two stroke my Grandpa is sitting on?

A lot of similarities to this Benelli.

What a beautiful little jewel of a fine machine! This is why I lust for Ducatis so badly, the Italians have such an eye and talent for making beautiful artwork mechanical objects! Well, except for johnny80s of course! That particular project did not turn out to be a Ferrari for his Mama and Papa! Closer to a FIAT 850 or a Lambretta 'A'!

Well if you like old 2 strokes, maybe you'll like this one. Pic is 1 year old.

Rad, I'm absolutely wild about old 2 strokes! Your machine is amazingly gorgeous! I owned two Yamaha RD400's, a RD250 and a Yamaha RD125. Love the smokers!

The info with this pic says it is a Wards Riverside 1966 Benelli Vegas.
Ahh, the Wards Riverside (Benelli) motorcycle -- greatness for the masses. Benelli -- a 100 year old motorcycle company with many technical advances made over the years -- World Championship racing victories with cutting-edge multi-cylinder machines; six-cylinder street bikes offered to the public; many great names associated with and riding them -- great racers from past Grands Prix; and sold by "Monkey Ward" too...!

You may still be able to get a Benelli -- 'cept now they're made in China (not that that's a bad thing...).

Ok, I really think I found the exact model this time, right down to the tank emblem. The black and white photo with my Gramps is pretty grainy, but if you look closely at the tank logo, you can see how it matches the one below. Plus, the forks are right, and the handlebars are right. The info with this pic says it is a Wards Riverside 1966 Benelli Vegas. Thanks to Old Michael for getting me on the right track. Edit: and thank you charismatic.

It's a pity Gramps didn't leave you the bike instead of that milk crate you're riding...nice helmet, though :clapping:

Is that a 350 yammie? Was it called the "Big Bear" or something like that? That was my first real motorcycle. I bought as a graduation gift for myself back in 19**. Taught myself how to ride it, then crashed the hell out of it in BFE a few months later, resulting in some broken bones and a short hospital stay.

Back in my youth I owned a couple of street smokers, a '67 Bridgestone 175 and a '69 Kaw H1. The Bridgestone was the better of the two.

First high performance bike Suzuki made, the X6, or Super 6, first production street bike with a 6 speed tranny. I wrecked two of them in my younger days, have a bum knee as a result. Have one in my basement, waiting for me to get around to bringing it back to life (with the optional GT fiberglass tank and seat). Quick little bike back in the day, known to embarrass larger bikes at the dragstrip regularly.

The milk crate may be a little faster.
