Just came back from the Vancouver Motorcycle Show and saw for the first time close up, our colour up here for the '15 FJR ES. I gotta say, what they call "Dark Mettallic Gray" is a stunner. So much so, that this writer is putting money down on his 3rd FJR. While "Mettallic Black" is also available up here, the gray is the way to go. I had a black Nissan Maxima years ago and swore not to ever have a black vehicle again! In any case, can't wait for spring to arrive and in the meantime, I'll get my jollies from a Honda "snow thrower" !!

Congrats from your southern neighbors.....

As much as there are those that love the red here, I find the Liquid Graphite much more appealing - and bought it sight unseen....

So glad I did, she's a beauty...... Now to start figuring out those add ons....

Hey Warp., while I am guessing it's the same colour for both US and Canuck markets, I have never understood why Mama Yama. would use different names for what is essentially the same thing. Any thoughts on this...or is there indeed, a difference in the actual colour tones? P.S. We never did get the red up here last year. Just black for the ABS and dark mettalic brown on the base model !

I doubt they offer up a whole different "COLOR" (hehehe)

They have over the last few years actually started to consolidate on the colors offered to yous guys up der in Canukastan, Europe and the USA...

Another gripe for some here - is that they are no longer offering up the Auto Transmission (AE) model here in the US, but still do in the other locations.

If they would be allowed to just order one, it'd make alot of people happy here, but NOOOoooooooo

Anywho----- Enjoy your new machine, spring can't get here soon enough, chompin at the bit to ride this bad boy with almost no mileage on it....

The color difference should be obvious, especially during winter.

Dark Metallic Gray is the Northern Color.

Liquid Graphite is the Southern Color.

The Liquid Graphite actually freezes into a solid in cold weather. Since it is no longer a liquid it is illegal for Yamaha to label it as a liquid. Thus, Dark Metallic Gray.

I can fully agree with you about how good the gray looks, I am loving my 2015 ES. I will warn you that the paint is soft, if you slide it on asphalt it will wear through. Quickly.

Congrats on the soon-to-be new ES! I'm liking the color...a lot.

Hoping you can put that Honda away early this year...

Enjoy the new bike.

I too think Yamaha uses different names for the paint in various markets. The candy red in the U.S. for 2014 is called something else in Europe but it is the same color. I bought the red side panels and they were for the European 2014 FJR.

Yeah, it's called "Lava Red" or something like that.

Yamaha announced that they were going to roll the Canadian operations into the US unit. We'll probably see more consolidation as that takes place. The Canadian market just doesn't justify having its own structure (or colours

Mucho congrats! Be kinder to yours than I've been to mine.

Wouldn't be polite to discuss Red's.

So do you think that means Canucks get saddlebag liners and 'Mericans get ignition immobilizers?

Or the forbidden switchable Kmh/Mph speedometers ?

Well as I read the forum and dream about better days ahead. I live in the only place on the planet where Canada is south of my house. 4-6 inches of snow today and 40mph wind. Not to mention the low is -11 F tonight. Thought my 14es would warm up the day a little but than I saw the new color and they are right, great look in (dark grey). Congratulations! Now the only question is when are we going to be able to ride them? I can only pat her on the head so many times.

My 14 USA model has that option.

Congrats on yours. Just picked mine up last week. Helped the dealer take it out of the shipping crate. That was an interesting experience in itself!

I liked the liquid graphite from the moment I saw it in the pics and then really flipped for it in person. Each to his own on color preferences, but I like the darkness of the 2015 coloration. Sometimes I think I would prefer that the engine casings and covers be blacked out as well.

I've been thinking about naming mine "shadow bitch".

As much as I like 2015 color, I just couldn't justify paying $3000 more for the same bike I could buy in red.

Local dealer had both on the floor, but would not discount 2015, while offering huge discount on 2014. (I bought demo with 1 mile)
