Well, maybe it's winter...but it's getting to the end of winter soon (month or so) here in Wheaton/Chicagoland. Pretty excited about the upcoming mcy riding season and trips...including CFR. However not much posting is going on...so I'm thinking I must be missing something...not EVERYBODY must be glued to the TV watching hockey are they?

Rode with a couple of Canadians (you know who you are) last summer and a hockey discussion marathon broke out. :D

So what other things am I going to have to read up on in the coming months? So when sitting and listening in on your conversations I can add my .02?

Come on...lay it on me. :assassin:

From south of the border...

Regarding the english language botchup in the thread title....I meant to do that. No really.

EDIT- I see I posted in the wrong area  doh! Sorry for that admins...

The times I've been through Canada the folks have been so nice and easy to talk to, such a change from our normal riding area.

Topics that can get a conversation going with our buds up North:

Do you think Bush did the right thing ?

Have you had to use your national health insurance?

Is Ontario as left wing as the righties say it is ?

I hear the Quebeckers want to secede again...

Whose idea was it to kill the East/West railroad ?

Hey Gypsy, didn't it stink, what the Eagles did to Garcia ?

I am kind of torn on the Garcia decision. He is definitely on the back side of his career and Feeley isn't yet 30. Although I think it had more to do with McNabb than with Feeley. I certainly appreciate what Garcia did for the Eagles but I think he might be better off on a team where he can get more game time. As we all know 2007 is the year Donovan plays the whole season!! :dribble:

Fixed your sentence, and the answer is, learn to drink real beer. :D

Oh yeah, watch out for snowsnakes. They should be hibernating though by the time you go up North.

Only if you find someone that gives a shit and cares to stop riding and discuss politics.

I agree, a buddy and I rode the whole way west across Canada last summer starting at Niagara Falls. The Canadian people are very friendly and hospitable. Extreme example: In Calgary we had a guy in full Hell's Angels colors pull up next to us at a red light. I was expecting a disparaging comment about our Japanese bikes or our full gear. What we got was: "Nice day, eh?" (And it *was* a beautiful day).

Softwood lumber

Gulf of Maine

Mahar Arar

Pacific Salmon

patenting e-mail

Porcupine Caribou herd

Alberta beef

passports

freindly fire

That should make for some interesting discussions. Probably interesting enough to make a hockey brawl look tame.

How about an American movie about the great Canadian game?....Slapshot anyone? ......if nothing else it points out the "finer" points of the game.....

gypsy - the Philadelphia Eagles!!!! My dad and I had season tickets in the 60s to their games. Second deck 50 yard line - great seats. Only problem was......the Philadelphia Eagles! They ruined me for following football - heck, the only thing I know about football now is that I hate the Redskins and Cowboys! Did get to see Frank Gifford break his leg - you could hear the crack all the way in the stands!!

French-Canadian Folk Dancing

Oh and drinking Beer (Thought I taught that subject last year)

Chris

As an honorary canuck, I do keep glued to the tube keeping up on hockey. Go minnesota wild! Play off push, baby.

Jim yes the Philadelphia Eagles but they keep letting me down. For many years I was a Buffalo fan then I moved to Philly and got caught up in the Eagles. Even though I left there in 2002 I still root for the boys in green. I haven't been to the new stadium but I would like to get down for a game. Maybe next season.

Peter North in the top 20??
And Axeman he grew up a few blocks from me....it's something in the water! :yahoo:
