Ahh...329 twisty miles, what a fun day. Dustin is from Vancouver BC and was passing through on his way to Nevada, Utah and Colorado for his first ride into these states. He has an awesome route planed for much of the good roads east of here. I met Dustin through the FZ1 forum a few years back and we have ridden together a few times last year. He is the guy who I was riding with when Bambi plowed into me last fall in Washington state. It is so great to still be riding!

So today he and I rode the back roads to Nevada which included Wentworth Springs ,Kit Carson and Monitor Pass. After the first 40 miles we switched bikes and I really liked the Hornet other than the bars were a bit of a reach for me. Nice motor and the bike was very planted in the curvy stuff while I tried to ruin his gas mileage. Had to get used to the backwards speedo with km on the outside of the dial
We stopped at Stumpy Meadows Reservoir for the switch back to our own bikes and a break. Dustin with his blue stich, blue bike, blue sky and blue water. Glad I ride black and orange.

We continued through the Tahoe National Forest and I even included a bumpy goat trail. Very little traffic today and it was nice and quiet at our rest from the bumps although I suspect the KTM really likes goat trails a bit more than the Hornet

We pressed on into the real high country and on to Carson Pass. A quick photo op at Caples Lake as it was getting lunch time and I could hear Dustin's stomach rumbling like a Harley.

After a great lunch in Markleeville we were on to Monitor Pass. Damn that's a fun road. I think Dustin was looking for the meaning of life on his phone. JK he was storing pictures or something people do with smarter phones than I have. Today was a great day in the mountains.

Wasn't long before we were in Topaz Lake, Nevada and it was time for me to head west while Dustin turned east for Utah and Colorado. It was great to host my Canadian friend for the night and ride together again today. Somehow I think that guy is going to be wearing a grin for days to come on his trip. Doug

Very nice RR. Parsed just right too. Beautiful pics, Jealous of all that blue sky, it seems it only rains here of late.

Thanks Bug

Nice pics and RR. I am keeping my eyes open for a CB599 Hornet for a second/third bike. Looks like you were on a CB919 Hornet. Not a lot of the CB599s were sold new of due to its price. Used prices are still high. It reminds me of a CB750 Nighthawk I used to own and regret selling.
