Ne vous en faites pas vous aurez un Québécois de moins !

Ohh it is true you Canadians have problems reading french, so I will translate it for you:

Don't bother you will have one less Quebeckers !

See I do not have problem doing my best in english because this is an American forum, never heard comments

from them about my poor english, I respect them and I think they respect me.

I do not want to start a war here, but keep in mind the word "respect''

Apologies Pierre that was out of line, no disrespect intended.

As for your English skills they are far superior than my French

Okay folks. Now that it is 2007, any dates confirmed for the Ontario FJR Rally?Canadian FJR
Okay, I guess a bit of an update is in order. I spent a couple days over the xmas break and took a road trip across to Hwy 60 to huntville, then back through Haliburton and Bancroft.

Huntsville is farther west than I wanted for a host site, but it does have a wide variety of hotels and restaurants and their are good roads in every direction. Bancroft would be my more favoured choice for location. However, it does seem to suffer from a lack of variety for hotels and restaurants. (But it is much better than I remeber it from a few years ago).

The current status is that I am waiting for one of the hotels in Bancroft to get back to me. I stopped and left my name and contact info and the manager was going to send a package out as soon as he got back in the new year. But the regular rates at the hotel I stayed at in Huntsville are far less than the hotel I am waiting for info from in Bancroft area. And I must admit, Huntsville is a very scenic location for a rally, far more so than Bancroft.

So as you can tell I am torn. Looking at the map I like Bancroft area for the rally. But now that I have gone and looked around for myself, Huntsville is looking really nice. Anybody have any strong feelings on this either way?

As for the date. I am heavily leaning towards the weekend of the Sept 7,8,9. (Weekend after labour day and before EOM). However I have not nailed down a hotel yet. So the other date I have in mind is August 24,25,26 (Weekend before labour day weekend).

Edit... Okay I thought about this a bit more. I realize everyone that wants to do this rally needs to start thinking about planning vacation time. So here it is. I will do my best to make it the weekend of Sept 7,8,9. This might still change due to lodging availability but at this point I will do my best to make this the date.

I will keep you all posted

Colin

Hi....er....ah Tinker

I see that you live in California.... Is that correct? This thread is about a get together in Ontario Canada.... If you can make it that would be great ... but I hope you have lots of holidays to get here.

Well, yeah I live in California. I pretty much ride where I feel inclined to. Haven't been shot at, yet. I've never ridden in Canada though I've "always" wanted to. I've had my shots, have a valid Passport, inshurance, driving license, tent, sleeping bag etc. and lots of maps. If it helps any I do listen to CBC most days and I don't make jokes about Canadians. I've been known to laugh at selected Canadian jokes, then again I laugh at Yank jokes blond jokes, cop jokes et all and of course motorcycle jokes.

I hope this will convince you and others that I am a reasonably civilized, semi-literate human being with good intentions and an abiding desire to learn more about different cultures and people. I also enjoy riding my '03FJR.

See, Im not just a another handsome ***, alcohal and drug crazed Califonicator!

Most of this would be better read as it was written, with held tongue firmly in cheek.

Cordially and hopefully

Tinker

Tinker,

I think Huron52, like me, thought you were saying that you were available only for the weekend. I thought you had seen 'Ontario' in the post thread and assumed 'Ontario, CA'. We should know that people on this board know their geography better than most. Sometimes we fall back to the stereotypical "Americans bring skis to Canada in July". Which of course is ridiculous...it's probably only 1 in 3

I am sure it would be great to have event participation from so far away. And if you are coming as far as Ontario you may want to continue on to Nova Scotia. Great place to ride.

Jeez, a reasonably civilized, semi-literate human being with good intentions and an abiding desire to learn more about different cultures and people...sounds like a statement for a citizenship application :dribble: And not being another handsome ***/alcohol/drug-crazed Californicator...doesn't sound like you're much fun, or at least wouldn't fit in very well with Bugr and Mike

Seriously, the only thing you really have to worry about is whether you can handle Canadian beer, keep track of your souvenir receipts so you can claim your GST rebate as you leave, and survive a bunch of hosers saying 'eh' in between bites of backbacon :)

I thought you might say something about that :D

Yup that's what I was thinking... but gypsy is right... if you are coming this far you got to see Nova Scotia and the other Altantic provinces..

I don't really like back bacon and I don't like beer. I prefer regular bacon and whiskey.

I say about, not aboot. The last letter in the alphabet is Zed, not Zee.

I don't care about Tim Hortons, I don't drink coffee.

I could care less about hockey, I have better things to do.

But still, I am Canadian.

Merci, bonne journee.

So, Sept you say for a Rally. We will see if I am not working.

Don't like backbacon? Don't care about Timmy's? And care less about hockey, at a time when our defending champion national junior team is about to go up against the Russians for another Gold Medal? Taberwet! Ce n'est pas tres Canadien traditionnelle...Next you'll be saying you pass on maple syrup and prefer Wiser's Old (ptui) over CC...

Wonder what would cause something like that...riding too close to Pickering or Darlington when the reactors are up maybe?

riding too close to Pickering
Only 1 hour away from the radiation. I ride by it from time to time.

I did fall down a lot when I was a youngling.

Canadian Club Classic is ze best.

I would worry about that place ... It is run by the Ontario Government. <_<

But then if you knew how much it between you and that bad stuff you might not worry. That is as long as all the layers of protection work.

We noticed huron52 spoke pretty good lingo for a furriner at the CFO.

I'm considering coming. If he is not around, will you provide translators?
