Start out with doggie shots.. Harley-D-Dawg
His girlfriend, Daisy Duke
Past the vineyards. Who says they don’t use water?
Check the vineyard worker. ATGATT.. LOL
I’ve moved, here’s my new addie. Feel free to drop in anytime, the later at night the better… (yeah right)
Nice way to start a ride… 229 in the morning, new tires, new air filter, new oil, new day!
Ahh, the 2-2-9
Horsie shot. Check out the tat.
Working my way to Santa Margarita, CA, for breakfast. Thanks Ceasar Chavez for the day off..
Breakfast!
At Tina’s – you don’t go away hungry
Finally, in search of posies for JB and Silent – hiway 58 East of Santa Margarita near Shell Creek road.
Shell Creek Road
A Weestrom rider came cruising through..
Where I was:
Back East on 58, next stop BitterWater Road to head north again.
Heading North on BitterWater.. One man’s junk is another man’s….
Farming is king
Last year about this time, Two Wheel Nut, Reno John, and I stopped to take a pix from this very spot. Who would have thought but ~4 months later we’d be placing Timmie in the ground? For you Tim.
Watch out for Bumpy Roads – helps if you can read the sign that’s downed from the last earthquake..
Look how dry it is now, approximately 20 miles from Shell Creek and all the posies. Amazing.
And check out the old ranch house. I would love to get closer, but the gate is locked and I don’t like being shot.
So, along this ride I was thinking and chuckling about some of the characters on the board.. Bustanut, Odot, BearlyFlying… so when I saw BrownTurdRoad and all the green trees, well, I just had to spend the $$ and take foto…
Look at how big the almond trees are along BrownTurdRoad!
And into the ugly. Southbound on 33 from the 46/33 junction. Heading towards McKittrick, CA, an oil ‘town’ mostly. These wells were all working when gas prices were record high.. now they are shut down.
Check out my new gas mileage FJR king! Changed the air filter yesterday, today get 39 mpg.. Amazing.
Finally, into McKittrick and the PennyBar. If you’ve never been there, you should, it’s a great place, the food is good, the folks are real. I ordered a Sundae and diet Coke, heard an oil worker talking about how his bud just today got his leg severed from above the knee by something called a ‘Sand Whip’. Not sure what a Sand Whip is, but you can bet I’ll be staying away from one? Check out the café -
Leaving McKittrick, heading back for the Hondarosa, I pulled a Fairlaner and the MPG average dipped to 23.
Then, surprisingly, the road got really pretty again..
I took this pix for BustaNut.. Hey, uhh, Bust, what does this remind you of?
After the diet coke at McKittrick, had to stop at PEE WEE park, and, uhh, well,
Ok, down the home stretch now…
This is the pass on 58 heading West from McKittrick, I think it’s the Tremblor Mountain range.
