Radman, You say "oil never stops dripping from the drain hole". What if you leave the drain plug out and go to Yak, Montana for the winter to do what people do in Yak. When you return in the spring, would there still be oil dripping out of the drain hole? :blum:
Surface tension.

Yes, especially if one goes to Yak, Jersey, not so much.

As a recent visitor to Yak, Montana, I can speculate that the oil drain hole would not be dripping. Instead, I believe you'd be scraping congealed bear grease out of that hole. Bear grease is sort of the Yak equivalent of WD-40; you know, an all-around remedy. It is a good mosquito repellent, axle lube, laxative, etc.

My plugs on the oil and the rear end were tight too. But I found my "Red-Neck" tourqe wrench to break it free. Red-Neck tourqe wrench = long pipe that slides over handle of ratchet. I have changed my oil and rear end fluid three times now in the first 6000 miles and and all threads appeard to be fine and the plugs screw into thier appropriate holes just fine. Yes, I still think "Righty-tighty, Lefty-loosey" when doing this process.

The service adviser at my local dealership said it is very common for Yamaha to have the drain bolts very tight from the factory. I changed the engine oil and gear oil then they did the rest of the 600 mile service. I've never taken my other bikes to the dealership in the past because most of the time they really don't do anything to the bike. Even the throttle body sync didn't need adjusting after checking and that was the real reason I brought it in today but if it did need adjustment I couldn't have done it right away so $160 dollars later that's where we are at.

Hey now I've got a new FJR ready to go in my garage when I get back from Detroit on Monday so no complaints here...
