If a car is working fine, then one afternoon, it just won't start at all. No turning when you turn the key in ignition, just nothing, not a single noise.

Not battery, tried jumping, also all the headlights, stereo, horn all work fine, no dim dash or anything....

So anyone know if changing out a starter is an easy job on a 96 Ford Mustang?

Uh oh, hope it's not starter... found this, bad news.. clicky

Try jumping the solenoid- that might narrow it down between the starter, solenoid/switch.

Definatly check your starter solenoid. On a ford, it's usually on the firewall or fender well instead of attatched to the starter. 9 times out of 10 the solenoid is the problem. Good luck

Keith,

I have a Ford product with a similar problem. It turned out to be the Starter Relay Switch. It is usually about 1"x1" like module mounted in the engine compartment. Mine was mounted (with 2 others) on the drivers side between the firewall and the washer unit. The Module is about $5 dollars.

Good luck with your starting problem.

Thanks, will check that.

It's gotta be that or the solenoid.
