First thanks to all the various threads, photos, and how-to's that made my first 600 mile carb synch relatively painless. I used the Morgan Carbtune pro and had these initial readings (mm):

Cylinder: 1 2 3 4

Initial: 210 210 185 205

Final: 205 205 210 205

So everything is in spec with respect to the rule of no more than 10 mm difference between carbs. But I could not get to the 250 mm recommended midpoint. In fact, I could not get over 210 mm, even with the screws turned all the way in. Yes, I did install the dampeners on the Morgan as required and it was hanging vertical.

Everything seems to be running fine, but is there any reason to be concerned about not being able to draw higher vacuum? Note that I live at ~5400 ft elevation if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

Fourteen,

Yes altitude does make a difference. I have never hit those numbers as specified. As long as they are even and balanced, everything should be fine.

Congrats on your bike and your first balance!

Well now I feel better. I just got my Morgan yesterday and did my first synch last night. I had the same question about it not going over 210 but didnt want to ask due to it being so close to a friday

This was my first synch at 4300 miles and I only needed to bump up #4 a hair and that was it. I just got back from the first 100 mile ride and it is running perfect. :yahoo:

Try adjusting 3.5% per 1,000 elevation. So, if you're at 5,000 feet 210 would convert to about 247.

Oh, crap. I'm getting ready to go to NAFO and I can't even find my carbs.

****, I guess I'll go back to the garage and keep looking.

Could someone please post a photo of the carbs on their FJR? That might help me.

(No it isn't Friday yet here on the west coast, but it's close enough).
