Has anyone removed the carbon fiber generator cover? and what would dissolve the bonding material?

Thanks in advance!

I haven't got a CF generator cover to remove but I can help with cleaning the adhesive.

The most simple thing is to try off the shelf Goo Gone. It can be found in almost all grocery and discount stores. The stuff works really good, it is what I used to remove the sticker from the gas tank. Failing that go to an auto parts store that carries paint supplies and pick up a can of lethal smelling 3M auto body adhesive remover :dead: This will work for sure.

ionbeam, I contacted BikeJohnny and they recommend to just pry it off when hot and to cut the cover, with a dremel tool, into smaller pieces if necessary.

I will get some adhesive remover for clean up.

;)

Thanks

I went a different route with the install of my cover. Instead of using the adhesive supplied, I just used a generous amount of industrial grade heavy duty Velcro (not the WalMart stuff). Even after I went down on the left side, the cover took the beating it was designed for, and all I had to do it peel the Velcro aprt to replace the cover. In over 20000 miles on my 05, I haven't had a problem with the cover coming loose or anything. It is important not to skimp on the Velcro. I works for me, but YMMV.
